C5 h.u.d.s. install

i cant remember the last time i was a bit apprehensive tearing into my car. well i finally took the dive and ripped out the dash. didnt take too long, i dont think anything broke. was busy tonight, but should have time to install tomorrow. hopefully it goes in as easy as comes out. one thing that sucks, is i thought that the area the heads up dislpay mounts would be predrilled. no such luck. also people mention using a right angle drill. theres is no way to fit it int there. i was not really stoked about using the old school, all steal chasis milwauke angle drill. i can see it binding up and riping thru the windshield.

You can get flexible cables for drills. Perhaps a right angle attachment on the end of a flex cable would be what you need....

im actually leaning towards using my dremmel tool with the flexible attachment. it maybe a little slower, however i know its not going to bind up and end up going thru my windshield. planning on drilling out enough to be able to use a 5/16 sheet metal screw and wrachet. should i use a piece of rubber between the part im screwing into and the hud unit? also are these two front screws really necessary. i can easily bolt the rear of the unit, and it will be locked into the dash so it shouldnt be going anywhere.

I think I would use rubber washers just to help eliminate the probability of squeaks and rattles that could drive you nuts after a while. In this case, certainly, an ounce of prevention will be worth a pound of cure.
