Hardarse cop or not?

I have nothing against cops, cause i know what they have to deal with on a day to day basis. My question is whether or not this cop wanted to be a hardarse or not.

And for the ex/retired cops who frequent here ill keep this event non-exaggerant.

Im leaving work to go pickup lunch for the shop. Im at a light next to and old lady who should not even be driving. The light turns green and i leave, not to fast either i didnt even break 3k rpms getting to 45mph(the speed limit). On the side of the road there was a state trooper leaving a gas station on the same road im traveling on. As i pass by he jumps out and gets right on my arse. i plug my radar in to see if hes tagging me or not, and hes not. Im come to my area and pull into the shopping area. I go behind a taco bell and he follows me behind there, then i pull into sonics and pak my car and lok at the menu. i look in the rearview and seen he kept on driving by and i thought he was leaving.

as i finish up ordering i see a car pull up right behind me blocking me in, son as i see my side mirror i see the black an tan car. so i looked back and theres a young guy looking at me like was driving my car like a i stole it. being pollite i asked, how goes it officer. he just kinda stared and looked dumbfounded, then he said "umm you need to remove your tail lights theyre took dark". i said "ok?" and he just drove off. now the best part is im driving back to work and pass two county sheriffs and neither of them pulled me to the side, and one nodded at me with a smile.

i figure yeah some people have DARK tails but, mine are the rpi covers and never had a problem with people telling me im to dark except this one guy. this is my car with them on AND the sun angled toward them, do they look to dark?

So was this cop being a hardarse or not?

drove with blackouts on my 99 for years..never an issue....so....maybe he was just fishin....if he had a reason to write you he would have.....forget it

The law is about darken lights are pretty much up to the officier to pull you over. The cops I know,And I know a few, have told me the had better things to worry about then if my lights are to dark, they figure if I got rearended because of that then it would be my problem.I know there more people here that could give more details on that law.
Maybe he had a call on a black stolen vette and was just seeing if your's was that one,I would not worry about it to much.
Or maybe you left so fast that he thought you did'nt even have tail lights:lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:

Hard to tell? Sounds like a fishing expedition as Robert mentions, or maybe (you said he was "young") he was just feelilng his oats.

A lot of young troops get a bit overbearing in the first few years. Most loose the attitude as they mature:thumbsup:

I've researched and defended this same "violations" successsfully in court and inter-departmentally, several times over the years.

Do a search here and you'll find a lot of information on the subject of blackouts.

If he didn't write you, don't sweat the small...oh, and it's all small stuff:thumbsup::lmao:

Phew good to hear then. Id hate to rip off those things that make the car a loud stealth car lol.

It wasn't you he was hunting for (based on my experience) He had received something indicating a vette similar to your's was involved in a crime of some nature and he was checking it out. Once satisfied you didn't "fit" he was gone. I did it untold times in my career

I agree. He was looking for someone that drove a car similar to your's. It happens all the time now, thanks to the advent of the cell phone. He was lookin for this guy.

Looks like that guy could punch the daylights out of your kneecaps! I'd be careful around him if I were you..... :yesnod:

From the photo, I'd say all he's missing is the rubber glove....now turn your head and cough:eek::lmao:

I'd have to agree with everyone else. He was looking for someone else and wasn't expecting you to approach him so he came up with the blackouts thing. Just let it slide.:D
