Hurricane Irma

The most recent Intellitrack map shows deep purple around either coastline which the legend says is a "warning", however on the bottom right of the map, there is nothing indicating wind speeds for that purple area.

well you guys can thank me for this current path. if i hadn't purchased a generator, it would have come directly over orlando.

You still might wind up needing it. I think most of Florida is going to get pretty messed up from Irma.

I am sure i won't be posting for days with no power. I may have to drive up to you and enjoy the A/C and i will trade for some work around the house.

Not too much change in the track over the afternoon updates.

Aarghh.. Looks like they thing that Irma is definitely going to be swinging out into the Gulf, at least a little bit. They did downgrade the predicted windspeed, so it looks like the eye is going to be closer to us, but maybe weaker. UNLESS it picks up strength when it is over the warm waters of the Gulf.

Connie and I are talking about just jumping in the Jeep and heading west. Keep on driving away from the storm as long as we can find gasoline. We can catnap in the Jeep if necessary if motels are all booked up along the way.

Here are the latest tracks...

Track looks to be shifting more due north and could make landfall much sooner and much more to the south.

Yeah, seeing that too. The spaghetti model I've been looking at has shifted all of the tracks further east a bit. Sort of a "good news" and "bad news" sort of thing.

Better for me for sure. I think it will even go more east a hair. Much better than having the center west of me in the gulf.

Ventusky hasn't changed much concerning their modeling from what I saw late last night, but even then, they were predicting a more easterly course for the storm. I'll attach the latest screen captures from Intellicast's forecast track just to keep a record of it here. It, too, is showing a shift to the east for the track.

Yeah, I hear that. If it were to keep offshore in the Gulf, it's a good chance it could land on my doorstep as a Cat 5. We've got the Jeep loaded up and ready to bail at a moment's notice if that appears to be a likely circumstance. I'm going to be watching this like a hawk. But with the shift to the east I feel it more likely we will be staying put for the duration. I don't want to have this storm to the west or directly on top of us.

It's pretty darn windy up here already, with scattered showers, so this storm is having a very wide sphere of influence in the weather. We actually even had the power flicker off momentarily. I remembered that I had just gotten in a few UPS battery packs for low powered items, so I brought them over to the house and am charging them up right now. I'm sure power is going to go out, just a matter of when and for how long. I sure as heck am glad that I fixed that Onan generator. I really didn't expect to need it this soon after last year's hurricane, but I guess this might become more the norm for a while. Maybe I'll even get used to it. Heck, it COULD happen, I guess.

Speaking of a "wide sphere of influence".......... :ack2:
