Inop Hood Light

I bought my 98 in September and the hood light has never worked. On my 92 there was a switch so you could turn it off if you were working for a prolonged time. I replaced the bulb but that didn't help. I don't want to tear into the electrical system if I don't have to. Can someone help me.:shrug01:

Not sure about the '98. On my '02 there's an electrical connector near the front of the car you can disconnect if you remove the hood. You might check to see if it's connected. Just follow the wires from the light assy and you should see the connector.

Inop Light

Thanks for the help. I disconnected the plug and when I plugged it back in the light blinked and didn't stay on. It looked like the contacts and they had some corrision on them, can I spray some contact cleaner on them without doing damage?:shrug01:

Contact cleaner should work OK, it depends how badly they're corroded. If they're too bad, you might just cut the connector out and splice the wires together until you can get a new connector. The Chevy dealer may have one in stock for a few $. If not, a junkyard may have one. :)
