When the front is in the raised (fixed) position, the rear is raised by using a floor jack.

They are almost impossible to find used, but if you go to the Street Rod Nats at the fairgrounds in Oct. they have a booth there and usually have them on sale w/o sales tax or shipping.
I can tell you from experience, they are worth the money if you do a lot of your own work.
