• Got the Contributing Memberships stuff finally worked out and made up a thread as a sort of "How-To" to help people figure out how to participate. So if you need help figuring it out, here's the thread you need to take a look at -> http://www.corvetteflorida.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3581 Thank you, everyone! Rich Z.

Start a club?

I live in Tavares, and would be interested in club info as well. :welcome:

Any thoughts of starting a local club? I'm not sure how to contact other Corvette owners in the area. If anyone out there could offer some advise it would be appreciated.

If there's nothing in your area and you want to start something, the first thing I'd do is get all your stuff in order (name, Inc. papers if you go that route, meeting place, etc.,) then post a link to your "club" in the club forum here and on some other forums.
I'd put the link in your sig on every site you're on.

I'd go to my larger dealerships and see if there's any interest in either sponsoring a club or providing you with a meeting place (as Ferman has here).

It's a win win for them as well as you.

When you go to shows, gatherings, or are just out cruising around, keep some flyers or business cards with you. Pass them out, place them on cars, put some in the local speed shops, tuner shops and garages, and leave some with your area dealerships that sell vettes.

Get a banner and/or decal for your car. Once your group starts to grow, when you go to local events, make sure you have a "club banner" , cards and/or flyers.

We built an F-body club from scratch to WOW in a very short period of time just this way:thumbsup:

It's marketing...just like any other business.

Good luck,

Gordon

Another thing:

I'm sure the local delaerships won't just "give you" the customer contact list:lmao:, but they might, especially if they decide to support or spoinsor you, be willing to send out a flyer to thier clients who have purchased through them. Same with any dealership that deals in vettes.

It's a promotional event for them and tax deductible.

As well, they could use it as a selling tool for local buyers. A free 1 year membership with newsletter to the local corvette club:thumbsup:
