I have a question or two that seeks OPINIONS.:ack2:. You guys (and gals) that know me know of "Goldie" my 72 BB. She is very close to original configuration (although NCRS guys would take issue with that statement).

We (Carrie, I and "Goldie") participate in as many car shows as we can fit in around other activities and I wonder as each show passes if my 72 would have done better in the judging if some minor modifications were added.:shrug01: Ya know things like an aluminum manifold:shrug01:, or maybe an engine block matching the color of the body,:shrug01: or chromed valve covers (painted are correct on my 72) or things like that, nothing radical, but subtle changes.:shrug01:

I understand the value of a steel bumper car is in it being near original and "Goldie" is a beauty as she stands. I also understand that all judging no matter how objective they try to be is subjective.

I'm not so interested in her running too much better or faster of that stuff but I do love her "lookin good".

I do not want to do anything to move her to the "modified" catagory, so "near original" is where I want to be.

What do ya'll think?

I say Leave her like she is!!! She made it 36 years and Looks as good as she does,why bother!!! But I'm kinda a Original guy anyway!! The more original,the Better I Like them!!!:thumbsup::dancer01:
 
Personally, my opinion is that it is YOUR car, so do to it what pleases YOU, not other people or someone who may want to judge your car based on some arbitrary criteria or their own preferences.

Do what makes you happy! :thumbsup:

:wavey: Like previously stated, do what'cha want. TBS, I like the idea of dressing her up a tad bit IE. bolt on's like valve covers, various chrome or painted caps and such. I don't know if i'd tackle the block or manifold though.:NoNo:

Go ahead if it make's her feel "fresh" to you. I like mods, so I think a subtle change here and there which makes you look at it and say "wow" again is worth it.

Ken, do what feels good to you right now, but DO NOT get rid of anything that comes off of "Goldie". That way, y'all can git her back to original without too much trouble or $$$$. Trying to find all of those little parts and pieces after you've ditched them can be time consuming and $$$ intensive. No matter what you decide, "Goldie" will STILL look good and STILL turn heads!

Hey guys, she's your baby, "personalize" her the way you guys want her to look. Forget about some "trailer queen" looking all shiney and original, but definately keep all your original parts.

If you want the look of an aluminum intake and a holley carb sitting between a nice set of polished valvecovers, go for it. Just remember....

Once you start it is a neverending project. There will always be that next piece of chrome or billet that catches your eye.

Rock on brother, and if you ever need a hand.... I'm out of town that weekend...:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

Connie wants to keep the C6 stock, but today we were looking under the hood and she asked what all that rust was on the engine. I told her those are the exhaust manifolds, which since they are only cast iron, they get rusty.

Can you say "stainless steel headers"? :hehehe:
