Wassup!!!
What are your top 3 favorite War movies, 1,2,& 3?:usa_flag:

Me...glad you asked.
1) Band of Brothers. (my favorite movie / mini series period).
2) Saving Private Ryan.
3) Pearl Harbor (newer version).
I love them all, but these are my top 3 choices.

I'm going to have to agree. I absolutely loved Band of Brothers. Seen it many times. Saving Private Ryan would be my number 2 and for number 3, I'm hoping it will be Flags of our Fathers by Clint Eastwood. I haven't had the chance to see it yet.

Favorites from:
American Revolutionary War - The Patriot
American Civil War - Glory
WWI - Don't have an answer
WWII - Band of Brothers, Saving Private Ryan, Pearl Harbor and U-571
Korea - M*A*S*H
Vietnam - Tigerland, Full Metal Jacket and We Were Soldiers

Various wars and battles from history
Blackhawk Down
Braveheart
Gladiator

Sorry Ray, a bit more than 3!

Not Just for entertainment!

:wavey: I too enjoy all of the ones you've mentioned!

I like it when my 16 year old son watches them, (movies that are more dedicated to actual historical events).
He actually learns More history from these movies than from in a book. Not to mention he actually researches things about the movie, to see what were Factual events and what were Fictional.
He also gets a sense of what men and women went thru (especially during the WWII era), and Now has Great Respect for his ELDERS and or Vets of all wars/conflicts.

I'd rather him watch these types of movies and maybe learn something from them, than some of the other crap :banghead: available to kids these days!:banghead:

Well, I guess my age will show here but my top 3 are
Patton
A Bridge Too Far
Red Beach.

I loved that movie (Patton)

I actually watched it just the other day.
My wife hates the fact that I like it so much, (because I watch it every chance I get).

I wanna go see the new one in theaters, the Iwo Jima one. Looks good, right along with Pearl Harbor and Saving Private Ryan (which I saw yesterday on cable again).

I went to see "Flags of our Fathers" (the Iwo Jima one).
It was pretty good.

Ray, did you know that Clint was doing another movie on the same subject from the Japanese point of view? None of the actors from "Flags" will be in it. It comes out in February, I believe. It's called "Letters from Iwo Jima". I think it's based on a letter from a Japanese soldier to his family.

I neglected to mention that it will be in Japanese with English subtitles.

Here is some info. The current trailer is only in Japanese, no subtitles. Unless you watch the combo trailer, which has "Flags" and just a peek at "Letters". The Japanese trailer is better. Hope you understand Japanese though! I'm sure there will be one in English at a later date. They're probably marketing the movie to the Asian crowd. I believe it even opens there first.

No jap on knees here

:rofl1: :lmao: Sorry, couldn't resist! I'm only fluent in Engrish and Ebonics:though lmao:.

Here I was thinking he was being patriotic, and now he's making a glorified story of their loss to sell to them. All about the $$ :twocents: :twocents: :twocents: $$$ I guess and not the sentiment. :brick2:

I narrowed it down to three

1) Sgt York

2) Pride of The Marines

3) Sink The Bismark

3) Sands of Iwo Jima

3) The Best Years of Our Lives

3) To Hell And Back

3) Heaven Knows Mr Allison

3) They Died With Their Boots On

3) Persuit of the Graf Spee

3) Saving Pvt Ryan

3) Platoon

3) Guadalcanal Diary

3) They Were Expendable

3) PT 109

3) The Great Escape

3) A Walk In The Sun

3) The Flying Tigers

I can't pick 3 either.

Namd of Brothers, friggin AMAZING series, I've watched it many many times.

Full Metal Jacket, this one I can actually recite hehe.

Tears Of The Sun , I notice no one mentioned this.. WATCH IT!

Casualties of War, another really good one

Platoon.

Saving Pvt. Ryan

Apocolyple Now

Jarhead... I really liked this one, because instead of focusing on firefights, it showed the mental side of being deployed, so its a lot different than most.

M.A.S.H .. I love that show :D

Thats all I can think of for now
