Need advise on stereo system

Rocky

Wellington 89 Vette
I have a chance to buy a good used Clarion DRB5176 aftermarket CD Stereo with 6 speakers (2-45 watt, 2-100 watt & 2-150 watt) and Coustic Power Logic Amplifier with wires, that came out of a 1986 Corvette. I have a 89 vette. Is it a bad idea to buy a used stereo? Is the Clarion a good system to use?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Rocky

Hey Rocky, i think Clarion makes a good stereo. Not to sure about that Coustic power logic amp.But if you know the person that owned system i believe that would help on buying used.Good luck hope it works out for you.:wavey:

Well that system is 20 years old. Are you putting in new speakers? You probably should, because the material that speaker cones are made of just does not last forever. And many times, when you change the speakers, you can completely change the entire sound of a stereo system.

The best guide to a GOOD stereo system will be your own ears.

Good luck!

Thanks to both of you for your responses. If the stereo is 20 years old, I am going to pass on it.

Rocky

Good idea!

You definately need to buy a newer stereo for your baby!
Although Clarion puts out a good tuner etc. you've made the right decision IMO. Also, i've had Coustic before as well (Amps and Pre-Amps) Never had a problem with them either.

Just thought i'd give a little information on the products you mentioned, in the event you run across these brands in the future.
