New GM Purchase Plan

Lou G

New member
I heard on the news today that GM has a new purchase plan.
If you buy a new vehicle and within two months you don't like the car, you can return it and get your money back.
I got the tail end of the report so I don't know what all the requisites are but it looks like GM is pulling all stops to sell cars.

Well, they could have had me buying a new Z06 from them had they met my price. Which was not at all unreasonable. Now I've spent the money getting a new drivetrain for my C5Z and they just lost that sale completely. Too bad, too sad.... I think I'll have a hell of a lot more fun with my car afterwards anyway.

Hey GM! Want to sell cars? People are out of work, or scared of being out of work. Money is tight for a LOT of people. Make potential buyers offers that they just cannot pass up. THAT will get you the sales... Drop the gimmicks, already. People would be expecting any sort of return policy to have so many strings attached and complications that it will wind up being easier and less headaches to just keep it. Which is EXACTLY what your bean counters would be counting on.

Hmmm! My chevy dealer called yesterday to tell me I could get a $14.95 Mobile1 oil change if I just came down to visit. :shrug01: Wonder what he wants. :hehehe:

Get the oil change. Drop off the car and walk across the street. I guess salesmen think they can mesmerize you into buying something....

It would help them to, if not have an original idea, to at least match what Hyundai offers within 3-6 months. How long ago did they offer this? Now they've got the cash for not so clunkers thing going. It's something that GM and Chrysler ought to think about doing.

That's funny because yesterday, I drove into the local Dodge dealership to check out the lineup of used 2500/3500 series Ram Diesel Crew Cabs.

When I drove up this old, overweight derelect type was sitting on a bench outside. As soon as I started walking away from my car, he gets up, waddles over and starts hovering:rolleyes:

I honestly didn't think he was a salesman at first:eek:

He did his sleezy introduction and I told him I was just looking, checking out the differences between the Ford F250 and Dodge 2500.

Told him what I was looking for and his immediate response was :

"you can't find them!":NoNo: "Almost impossible to get!
"No used ones on the market and if you find them they're "expensive."

I told him I can "find them" all day long, I just wanted to "see" one up close and personal to compare differences.

He looks at me like I slapped him, shakes his fat little head and says (in a very arrogant and challenging tone) WHERE!?

I slowly saunter over to my little ricer and open the door, point in, and say...there;) as I point to the laptop, already up and running:lmao::lmao:

A couple of keystrokes in Google and about 15 seconds later, he's looking at no less than 10 pages of used Dodge Ram diesels, mostly crew, extended and Mega cabs, from the early 2000's to present:rofl1::rofl1:

And all priced in the range I told him they'd be in:rolleyes:

MORON!!

The internet is a wonderful thing:D:thumbsup:

Told him "I'm only here because I wanted to put my hands on one. But since you've already lied to me right off the bat, I'm leaving....have a nice day...:wavey:"

He was two stepping and pack peddlling his a$$ off as I'm getting in my ricer:toetap05:

Doing your homework BEFORE you shop pays off big time.

Of course, having on board internet never hurts either:D:thumbsup::dancer01:

Looks like I'll be sticking with the Ford:thumbsup:

Was he wearing an ACORN shirt :shrug01: probably some government sponsored "jobs for short, fat, uninformed sales guy thing" :hehehe:

Hey Gordon, a buddy of mine was in Chiefland last month and traded for a 2008 Dodge 2500 Bighorn Cummins diesel crewcab. It was new, never titled, MSRP listed at $49,600.00. He got them down to $31,600.00 and they gave him $6000.00 for his old F150. He said they had one other 2008 2500 on the lot. Of course that was a month ago, but there probably are others around.

That's a great deal on an 08:thumbsup:

Thanks for the heads up.

I was straight up with the guy that I was just looking, "tire kicking" if you will to compare the differences. I'll most likely end up with the Ford 250-350 simply due to the larger rear passenger area than even the Dodge "Mega" cab.

Whatever I buy it'll be used not new. We'll be using it to haul boats, in and out of salt and fresh water....just don't want to put a lot of $$ into it if I can help it? I'm hoping maybe 03-06 in the range of 15-19k.

If I'm going to put 30+ into a vehicle, I'm buying another vette:D

Telkl your friend he got a heck of a deal:thumbsup::thumbsup::wavey:

:hehehe:Gordon, I really like your style because you really tell us what you think!!:lmao:
