A few months back I decided we needed new tires for the '03 and I started doing some research. Goodyear runflats came on the car but the question was, do I want to spend that kind of money especially being retired? Club members, forum posts and other sources leaned me toward a "regular" tire. More research and the General Exclaim UHP seemed to be the best bang for the buck. I got on the Tire Rack site and priced them out. The nearest recommended installer was Tire Kingdom here in Spring Hill. I called them and gave them the info on the tire I wanted. The manager told me that he would match any price including Tire Rack. BUT, the Generals would have to be ordered. "Why not move up to a Sumatomo?" I looked them up and altho they were more money and got a better write up he again said he would match the price. And they are in stock. I just drove home and as I drove kept thinking "what is different". NO NOISE!! I had the top down (of course) and all I could hear was the exhaust and the wind. I was told that by not having runflats, no road noise was a plus feature. All four tires mounted, balanced and road hazard warranty for under $650.00! :vette:
 
Heck yeah, I can't stand run-flats. They are GREAT in theory, but suck in the real world. My C4 drives SO much better, much less is much more quite. The ride was so horrible with those tires it wasn't even funny. Just keep a small compressor, fix-a-flat and your AAA card. :thumbsup:

I went to Kumho Escta ASX All Seasons!! And set my alignment up "My WAY"!!:thumbsup: There will NEVER be another GoodYear tire on any of my cars!!I have over 40,000 on the Kumhos and the still look like this!!:thumbsup:

40,000 MILES????? Man you need to drive that dude. I'm lucky if mine last over 20,000 (I too have kumhos), but to say I'm hard on tires is taking it lightly. :lmao:

BTW, I can't see your pics. I tried to open them in a new window and it was asking for a login.
 
I did the bf Goodrich g-force's all the way around on my c4 and man what a difference. Those GS-C's that came on the car were terrible as far as noice and handling.

Small air compressor (runs off battery) and a can of "Fix-A-Flat". Some say the fix-a-flat will screw up the pressure sensors. Little price to pay for the $950 savings of buying Goodyears!

Actually I put in a Z06 tire repair kit with a Mushroom Tire Plug kit from one of my suppliers!!:thumbsup:I've never needed it though!!:thumbsup::D
 
I carry my AAA Road Service card but have never had to use it. Flat tires are very rare any more if you keep good tires on your car.
 
There is a repair kit at Wal-Mart, includes a small compressor, a plug kit and I think a small bottle of Slime, all in a handy plastic bag for less than $20. I have one in each car.

I too switched to regular tires. Better handling, better wear, less noise. Now I can hear my Bullits.
 
Pressure Sensor?

On the way home I checked the pressure sensors and they all worked! Great! Star had to go to Gainesville for a seminar and on the way she called to tell me the right front is now reading "XXX". Anybody else had problems after getting new tires? :shrug01:

Nope,but a 03 is getting Old enough for the batteries to be going bad in the sensors!!:thumbsup:I've been expecting mine to Quit most any time!!:banghead:

I replaced my Runcraps on the '01 vert a couple of years ago. I put on the Goodyear GS D3s. No excessive road noise, great dry tire, and fabulous wet tire.

Like RichZ, I also bought the Conti kit from Tire Rack. Supposedly, there fix a flat is compatible with run sensors. I have been very fortunate, that I have the original sensors that came with the car new. Batteries are still fine, but now that I said that they will probably die on me soon!

When I bought my Z16, I did not like the fact that they did not come with sensors. So, I bought a set from GMPARTSHOUSE.com. If I remember correctly, the sensor, including the nut (it is sold separately) was only about $34 or $35 a piece. If you are going to break your tire down to replace a battery, which I am not sure you can do anyway, I would just as soon replace the damn thing.

No,there not supposed to be replaceable,but I have read a article that it has been done!!:thumbsup:You might try to reset them and see what happens!:shrug01:Maybe it will work for a while!:shrug01: I've got the reset procedure!! I'll dig it up!!:thumbsup:
 
1. Turn ignition on!
2. Press "Reset" button in order to clear any IPC display warning messages!
3. Press and release the "Options" button on the DIC to scroll through the display options until the IPC display is blank!
4. Press and hold the DIC "Reset" button for 3 seconds!
5. Press the "Options" button again until TIRE TRAINING message appears!
6. Press "Reset" button until the IPC "Learn L Front Tire" message appears in order to begin the programming!
7. Install the J41760 Tire Pressure Monitor (TPM) System Programming Tool (large magnet will do) over the left front valve stem!
8. The horn will sound, indicating the left front TPM sensor is programmed (if this takes more than 15 seconds, pull magnet back and try again, it will give you three tries. Then you must start over!)
9. When the horn sounds, proceed to program the next TPM sensor in the following order as directed by the IPC messages: -Learn R Front Tire -Learn R Rear Tire -Learn L Rear Tire Programming can be canceled by turning ignition off, waiting 2 minutes with no sensors being learned, finishing all 4 wheels or through the DIC. If the programming is canceled with less than 4 sensors learned, it will only accept the codes programmed up to that point!
