New tires from Tire Rack

This is very cool. Craig is here now, installing my tires, right in the driveway :D :dancer01:  :D

Pretty soon, :wavey: again.

Actually, the warranty is only for the make of the tire. I have to replace exactly what's on the car now, but I can go wherever I like to have them replaced. I got a price from a local shop for $1665 mounted and balanced plus tax....do you think that's a little high? I'm still researching everything you all are saying and it seems I can get them a little cheaper.

It depends entirely on what make and model of tire they are. Prices vary widely. A set of Vette tires can be anywhere from $500 to $1800.

You must not have seen the last two pages of posts. I have Goodyear Eagle F1 GS EMT P245/45ZR17 on front and P275/40ZR18 on rear.

Well, maybe I'm blind, but I can't find anyplace in the last two pages of posts where you said what tires you were running. You dropped various hints as to size, and runflats, but that's all I see.

$1650 or so for 4 new F1 GS EMTs is a very good price.

Sorry, I assumed that you guys knew the stock tires on this car. You know what they say about assuming! Well the guy that quoted me the $1665 didn't specify the EMT so I wrote him back to make sure he understands completely. It will be interesting to see how much the price changes. Thank you for your help!

I was able to get my new tires through a friend that owns St. James Automotive and he got a better discount through the Tire Rack.com. He installed them and put all new porcelain brakes all the way around my car and did an oil change for me all for $1,500. Because he's a friend he gave me a good price, but I would recommend him to anyone in our area.

HOLY COW....:dancer01:
Holy Cow is right! He basically only charged me for his cost of the tires. I had posted a thread about squeeky brakes....I had my car at the dealership I can't tell you how many times because of them. Several people on the forum suggested the porcelain brakes.....OMG what a difference! I will never use metal brakes again. I have not heard one squeek....the braking seems softer if that makes any sense, and there is virtually no brake dust. It's a win win. Thanks to all for your help!;)

Got the Squeak going on...

here as well!:banghead:
I've also read some threads on the differences in brakes available, So... Porcelain brakes here I come!:dancer01:

OK....I'll ask...... Not to hijack the thread, but what are porcelain brakes? What are the pros/cons compared with the original brakes? What's the "average" mileage for OEM brakes before they need replaced? Is there someplace here that I can look for answers/tips/hints etc? I did a search on "porcelain brakes" and it just came up with this one thread. Any :help: will be appreciated  !

I think he actually means ceramic brake pads. They don't squeal and generate far less dust than the stock pads. They're OK for street use but if you intend to track your car, forget ceramics. You'll need a much more aggressive compound.
