Just joined the forum and would like to say hello to alll of you. I have
a C-5 coupe with Targa top, black. Right now I'm trying to upgrade
the exhaust but don't want it too loud and not much drone at 70.
I did read the thread already posted and am more confused than before.
Any help would be appreciated. If there is anyone in Jax I would like
to meet and hear them.

Welcome this is about as friendly a Forum as you can find.Easy people,as a matter of fact if we had your street address we could gather up about 800 members and be at your house for breakfast Sat am .

:welcome: aboard and glad you're here. And lets see.....three eggs over medium, grits (I'm a southern boy) wheat toast and black coffee. See ya in the morning. Obviously just kiddin but glad you've joined us. It's a great group. Very laid back and full of (well Ray and Rob are at least) STUFF but not to worry I'm the sane one.

Hope you join in freguently

:welcome: Jim.
My 2002 had Corsa Touring exhaust. They had a very nice rumble at idle and great take-off. Not loud at 70.
Now I am looking for something a little tamer for my 2006.
Good luck in your search.

By the way, I like my eggs over-easy.

:welcome: Exhaust huh, well that will be a hard one. Come to Joe's party and you should be able to hear a good assortment and you'll enjoy the drive.

:welcome: Yeah, the best way to get the exhaust you want is to actually drive someone else's car that has the exhaust installed. No other way to really tell. Audio clips really don't tell the entire story at all. The problem is that most people want an exhaust that sounds ballsy on the outside, but pretty much nonexistent on the inside. Kind of a tough set of requirements to meet, as in many instances they are mutually exclusive. So you wind up having to make some sort of compromise towards one or the other.

Good luck!

And welcome to the site!

Welcome to the forum, and good luck with your exhaust project. It's a lot of money to spend and then decide you don't like the looks or the sound and have to start all over again. Listen for someone who has the sound you like :yesnod: , then use all that HP :peelout 1: to catch up with him and ask what kind it is  ! :lmao: :lmao:

Jim,
I have Borla Stingers on my wifes '01 vert, nice sound at idle, a good growl during takeoff, and no drone at cruise. C5Rick thought they were too quiet for him, me too, I want more sound out the back of my vette, so I am looking for a more agressive sound for my 2000 vert.

Found this chart in a MidAmerica catalogue. Maybe this would help some.

1=Slightly louder than stock, 2=Noticeably louder,
3= Aggressively loud.
First # will describe Idle, second # Acceleration and the third # Cruise.

Example of the B&B Route 66 would be Idle noticeable louder than stock, Acceleration noticeably louder than stock and Cruise slightly louder than stock.

C6 2005-2008
B&B Route 66 2,2,1
B&B 66 Evolution 2,2,1

Welcome to the Forum. There is no one answer to your exhaust question. I would go to shows and listen to them for a start and then see if you can get a ride and check it at idle, accel, and cruise. The last thing I would also do is try to get a ride in a car behind the exhaust in question and listen to the acceleration and cruise notes. Then you'll have a true picture of what you hear and if your heart goes ZING, it's time to pull out the wallet. Good luck. Mark
PS: Your exhaust notes will also change if you put on headers. If you want to be drone proof, consider the Corsa brand. They have a more european sound vs. the muscle car sound and so you'll really need to listen to them. I have read that the new Corsa Extreme has a more muscle car sound but not really designed for automatics yet. Mark
