• Got the Contributing Memberships stuff finally worked out and made up a thread as a sort of "How-To" to help people figure out how to participate. So if you need help figuring it out, here's the thread you need to take a look at -> http://www.corvetteflorida.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3581 Thank you, everyone! Rich Z.

Not a big deal ...but

but i really wish you could embed videos into the threads/posts as you can on other forums. I dont know how to do this and if you already can, please let me know.

Just food for thought.

I used to be able to do this via the HTML code <EMBED SRC>, but it is really a bad idea to allow raw HTML coding within message board posts, so I disabled it. If you have some links to other sites doing embedded videos, let me have them so I can take a look at how they are doing it. I am trying to make the HTML EMBED code as a custom BB coding, but so far haven't had any luck getting it to work. In the meantime, you can post videos in the Photo Gallery, I guess.

If I can figure out a way to do it, then I will, but it has to be a method that is non-invasive and secure from malicious misuse.

it was just a thought really. its not difficult to post a thumbnail that links to a video. Dont want to fill up your server with videos though:thumbsup: . Some sites use pure HTML coding, but that can be harmful to the site as you described. Most sites like youtube and googlevideo require permission to embed their videos. use bracket reference such as [yt]=URLcode[/yt] for youtube. I experimented a little with photobucket videos in the test section.

Let me tell you that this is by far the best forum ive ever been on. I truly am impressed with what ive seen with this site so far. Its nice not being on a forum with 30,000 members.

OK, I made the EMBED code into a custom BB coding for this site. Just substitute the brackets"[" and "]" for the "{" and "}" used in the example below:

{embed}http://www.corvetteflorida.com/videos/b4headers.wmv{/embed}

Cool, ill see if i can figure out to work it. I wont post too many videos though cause thay use quite a bit of bandwidth

Videos that are resident on another server do not load down the server this site is on, but depending on how robust the server is hosting the images, it could slow down the display within a thread. Some of those videos can be quite large, and someone still using a dial-up connection may have some problems viewing them before their patience runs dry.
