OIL AND COOLANT TEMPS

Rocky

Wellington 89 Vette
What is the normal peak oil and coolant temperatures for a L98, 1989 Vette?

Thanks,

Rocky

My 85 runs around 196 on water temp until I get in city traffic, then it runs 205-215 in the summer. The oil temp runs around 186-192.

85vette,

I am trying to get my water temp gauge to work, but Oil temp runs 224-232 on the highway. I don't know if there is a difference between 85 and 89 vettes.

Thanks for your imput.

That seems high to me, I wouldn't think it should exceed your coolant temperature. Maybe someone else with a C4 will chime in and give us some more input.

WOW, I don't think my LT-1's oil runs even that hot...and these engine hang around 195-220 degree water temps. I believe L98's come with a 180 degree thermostat so your engine should be close to that temp. It could easily hang out around the 190 mark with the way the radiator intake setup is on C4s though.
