Ouch!

Bus Driver
Let me start by saying that I am seeking counseling for my latest mistake. :banghead: I'm in a state of greiving and I need help. It all started with a parking lot curb and my C6. I was pulling out of a parking space and scraped the right side rocker panel. Ouch!

I hope that none of you have ever experienced this, and I hope you never do. However if you have and you had the rocker panel replaced, will you give me an idea of what the cost was.

Thanks,

ouch

the sooner you fix it the sooner you will get over it, ck the site I know there is a new section on this. good luck.:D body work forum

Remedy

I have the remedy for what is ailing me, unfortunately it comes in the form of greenbacks.

I contacted a local body shop in Clermont, FL (FORD of Clermont). The guy I spoke with said, based on what I told him, that the replacement for that rocker (which is more than just a traditional rocker panel), painted and installed, is just over $1000.00. :ack2:

Another ouch, but I rather have the pain in my wallet than on my car! :yesnod:

Yeah, the sooner you get it fixed the better off you will feel. It will eat at you all of the time.

There is a small scratch underneath the driver's side mirror on the C6 that although you can't see it without specifically looking for it, I still know it is there. And every time I look at the car, I TRY to see it.....

Thanks,

I feel your pain. My wife did it to our C5 last year. Worst, I was in the car. Yes, she is still alive.:banghead:

I took it by the dealers repair shop and it was repaired for <$400. They did a great job and I can not tell where the repair is.

Good Luck.

Great news!

I have some great news to report.

I drove the car over to the body shop at Ford of Clermont for a proper evaluation. John Haynes (the estimator) told me that it does not look that bad. If fact, he had one of his technicians come out to look at the car and Edgar said he could repair the panel without having to replace it. I was a little hesitant at first, but he said that the corvette is his dream car, so I know that my car will be in good hands. Besides, he has 15 years experience in body work.

The best part was the fact that the estimate went from $1023 to $436. Yeah! :dancer01: What a relief. I won't have to subject myself to endless nights of alcohol and self abuse, oh wait, I do that anyway. Just kidding!

To anyone who has this experience, I feel you pain, but this too shall pass.

Sorry to hear that,Does that include Paint? If I was you I would ask to be there and see it while it was being done,436$ seems low for good work. But of course I can't see the damage.:pics:

I thought that $436 sounded low also, but I have the quote in my hand. It does include paint (and clear coat), so I guess I am getting a good deal. The technician said that it really isn't that bad, just a little fiberglass work and paint. He promised that I would not be able to tell that it ever happened.

Woohoo!:dancer01:

Well if the body tech likes Corvettes, I think he will make the extra effort to make his work look the best that he can. So that is definitely a plus. Hopefully this will all work out and you will forget it even happened.
