C5 Pass. door lock

Have run the codes (none presently showing, although a few are showing in the history) My problem is that the pass side lock will not work to lock with either fob. It will unlock but not lock. Doing it manually works just fine. What I don't understand is if no trouble codes are showing then why doesn't the lock work?:shrug01:

Seriously though, it doesn't make sense why it unlocks and won't relock. Perhaps Antivenom or Auto XTC or your local Chev dealer would have the appropriate answer.
So what do you think of your new RIDE? The technological jumps in the generation from C3 to C5 is amazing. :thumbsup:
 
Hey Ken,

The door locks seem to be a common problem on C5s. Each door has a printed circuit board behind the door panel, which contains relays that control the lock and unlock functions in each door. It sounds like one of your relays has gone bad. If you are interested in pulling your door panel off, there is an easy procedure to remove and replace the relays on the board. Here is an old link from the Z06 forum that will give you the details on how to do it.

If you take it to a dealer, they are going to replace the entire board, which is not cheap, but with a new board, every relay would now be new.

Hmm, too bad the moderator over there edited out all of the sources for the relays......... :rolleyes:

Thanks guys, now the chase starts to figure out either what I'll do if I can find a source for the relays or if Chevrolet is going kiss me after they replace the problem relay and resolve the problem.

Actually it's reassuring that this is a known problem as opposed to one of those "sometimes it does it" things.
 
Hey Ken,

After Rich noticed that the moderator had edited out the source for the relays, I did another search, this time on Digital Corvettes, and found a link to a supplier for the relays. The link is listed below.

Each door has it's own PC board. There are three relays on each board. One for the lock function, one for the unlock function and one for power window function. If you are going to consider doing the job yourself, I would replace all three relays so that you don't have to do this again anytime soon. You do have to be a little handy with a soldering iron to sweat the old joints and get the old relays off and solder the new ones in place.

OR, you might want to check with the dealer for a price on a new board. Most dealer's can be pricey with their parts. I have had pretty good luck buying a few parts through GMPARTSHOUSE.COM. There number is 484-949-2099. The guy I used to deal with there was Gene Culley. Not sure if he is still there or not. It is a GM dealer in PA, I think it is Patriot Buick & GMC.

While you are checking on the door module price, I would also recommend getting a price on a set of Tire Pressure Sensors. This was the first mod that I did to my Z06. I have them on my '01 Vert and really like this feature. In fact, one of the sensors on the '01 went dead (I guess 10 years out of the TPS battery was not too bad) this past spring and I purchased new sensors for the '01 from GMPARTSHOUSE. I think they were around $175 including shipping. Much cheaper than what they would have cost me at a local dealer.

just had to replace the rear tires on mine, and got 2 new sensors from Gene
at gmpartshouse.com. Genuine GM parts in the GM bags, and at a much lower price.
Figured that I would replace them BEFORE they went bad and I had to remove the
new tires to get at them.

Took a chance and purchased a unit from good ole ebay. Changed it this afternoon and resolved the issue (lets see how long that lasts).

Hey Ken, maybe you can appease "Goldie" by having a picture of her airbrushed
on your present fuel rail covers. That way she would always be with you.

P.S. REMEMBER........that on C5's the key word is grounds, GROUNDS, GROUNDS! Make sure that they are clean and properly connected.
