Plus and minus of changing your own C5 starter

I had the dreaded starter solenoid problem, intermitten start problems, so I picked up a refurbished unit from Tracey at Revextreme.

++ saved a few $$
-- vette on jack stands in garage
++ took about 2.5 hours start to finish
-- getting my a** under the vette
++ vette started when I was done

Heck, when my starter goes south, I'll let someone else replace it. Mine has header tubes all around it, so it doesn't look like it would be much fun to do...

Not much fun Rich, had to drop the x-pipe at the collectors. But oh the thrill of victkory when it was done.
