Posi fluid

Any thoughts on how often posi fluid ought to be changed?

And should standard transmission fluid be changed?

The C4 rear end is a "non-service component" :shrug01: There's no drain hole in the diff. Lol. Not sure about the C3's though.

I've only done it once and I've got 90K on the clock now. Its just gotta be sucked out the fill hole. PITA city. :banghead:

thanks brother
and your right its a major PITA, Kinda like trying to suck silly putty through a straw,

Ken, i change both rear end fluid and Automatic tranny fluid every 3 yrs. no matter how many miles. I use a siphoning pump for rear axle, same can be used on tranny. 20 bucks at auto store

Thanks Ken. I did manage to get maybe half of the old diff. fluid out but it was "nuts" thick. Think I'll actually re-do it next month or so. I figure a good long drive to warm it up and then the pump to pull it out and start anew.

I appreciate the input

I would think that any lubricating fluid should be replaced periodically. :shrug01:

Ken, when changing the posi fluid. make sure to use 2 bottles of Posi additive. I think in 8 oz. bottles, to axle lube. Think i used 2 bottles of that also. 23oz each bottle. And then do figure 8's for about 5 mins. People will think ur nuts but it gets the posi additive inbetween the clutches.

Simplistic, intelligent thought. Makes sense to me. Thanks. I guess that's why I began the fluid change and (no doubt) will redo it to my level of acceptance.:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Fluid is almost always cheaper than metal......keep your fluids clean:D
