QUESTION FOR EVERYONE.....

I'm driving my 1st 'vette. I owned a new '88 IROC Z Camaro and thought I was sh!t hot:hehehe: Then one day I was sitting at a stop sign and heard a guy crossing the street in front of me say "look, he's driving a poor mans Corvette". Ever since then I wanted a 'vette but couldn't afford one. I owned a couple of Trans Ams ('96 and '98 WS6) and while they were great cars, they weren't 'vettes. Then in late '01 I test drove a ZO6 and that was it. I bought a new '02 ZO6 in july and never looked back. Someday maybe I'll upgrade to a newer model but right now I'm still enjoying my '02.:D

I have owned 2 Camaro's in my time...and never thought them a 'poor man's Corvette'. For us in the Corvette world, at least where I came from, the Camaro was always the Corvette's "little brother"..and I was proud of it. And as I recall things...the Camaro is always the next car that has the first distinction of receiving the Corvette engine to use once the Corvette upgrades. I never thought less of the Camaro...then or now. I'm sure a negative comment like that will never be repeated once the 2010 Camaro rips, and hits, the streets!

I have always loved the Corvette since I was a yout, maybe it was the TV show Route 66, I don't know when it started because no one I new ever had one.

As a grown Dad, whenever our family was driving past a Chevy dealer I would always change the subject to a red Corvette convertable. One day as we again passed a Chevy dealer, my then 13 year old daughter said, Dad, why don't you just stop and look at them, you don't have to buy one. Well, that day we drove home in that red Corvette convertable. Thanks Liz ;)

By Luck!

Always wanted one since I was a wee lad! ..And I consider myself blessed for having had two.:yesnod:

How I got my vette.

1968, November. I was sick with the flu.
A friend tried to cheer me up, by saying, let's go buy a corvette.
HA HA, I'm broke. But, to humor him, I said, I want an Orange one.
In January of 69, my wife and I were on a car rally and drove through a car lot, in her 58 Saratoga Hemi.
Saw an ORANGE VETTE!.
Next Saturday, we were shopping and stopped by this dealer.
Had a job, but no money.
After talking to the salesman, we bought it.
Had less than $20.00 dollars, in change, on us and he took it.
Picked it up Tuesday. First service,(1000 miles) Following Tuesday. LOL
While waiting for it to be finished, I saw a COPO Camaro, in the show room and talked to the dealer.
He told me about the ZL! package. I told him, I just gotta have it. He said, buy the car and I'll do the swap.
I did and he did and he resold the Camero.
After 6 years, (75), it was time for a new one.
The 75, was next and it hasn't stopped yet.
My 92, is the 4th one and maybe my last. Time will tell.

Funny story how i purchased mine. I was actually looking at a 03 Cobra (Terminator) and I just happened to stumble upon my C5. This car was my dream car and for the price I couldn't let it go. The wife was all for it and we went with it. Im a mustang guy and have had supercharged and turbo mustangs but they dont compare to the vette in my opinion. I love my C5 and I cant get enough of it. I didnt have a Mid Life Crisis, im in my mid 20s. Funny, now the wife wants to learn how to drive stick now that we have the C5 but never wanted to learn on any of my mustangs. Weird huh:) Now im looking at another 03 Cobra since i cant let them go for some reason lol. Jay
