Rain today

13" total for July.

Wow! That is actually more rain than we got here for July. I guess you really snapped out of that drought you were in for so long.

We got 1.11" more rain today. So we are starting off with a soggy August, it seems.

Just had a brief shower today with 0.28" of rain. Looks like this whole week is going to be pretty rainy around here.

We got barely a sprinkle today. Hardly even registered on the rain gauge at just 0.01".

Between yesterday and today, we maybe got several dozen raindrops. Nothing to even register on the rain gauge.

Good thing is that it seems like the mosquitoes have evaporated. We are able to do work out in the yard without them being a distracting nuisance.

Heck, we haven't had more than a spritz of rain in the past 4 days here.

Speaking of Stacy, she used to get me live blue crabs, but this year she seems to be just blowing me off. Last four text messages to her went unanswered. Maybe selling out the business meant she was just dropping out of the world completely and to hell with everyone. IMHO.

So here is is July already and I have only had steamed crabs once. And those weren't all that great. Matter of fact, they were pretty bad, TBH. So I am trying to find a reliable source of live blue crabs if you know of any. I used to get them from "A Taste of the Bayou" just south of Crawfordville, but their prices kept going up, and their quality going down. I may have to give them another try to see if they turned around from the direction they were heading.

Yeah, that's a pretty big chunk of change for windows. But as long as you get what you paid for and don't suffer any collateral damage during the install, hopefully you will be happy with the way it turns out.

Are you back home for a while now?

Well, Stacy came through on Saturday. I got a phone call and she asks me, "Rich, would you be interested in 4 dozen large male live crabs?" Well HELL yeah, I would!!!!

Turned out to be 5 dozen, and Connie and I steamed them up on Saturday and have been eating them for dinner the last few nights. Still have enough for Tuesday and Wednesday dinners. And man are they GOOD!! Nice and heavy with yellow mustard. This is being a real treat after going without them for so long.

BTW, Stacy just said the crabs just have not been available. And they had to pull up the traps in July as per some Florida state regulation or something. Hopefully I'll be able to get more of them before the season runs dry.

Is your grass coming back to life yet?

We got 0.47" yesterday. Nothing today.

Looks like we may get something from that tropical system coming up the Gulf coast. But it doesn't look like it will amount to much. Knock on wood.

When I looked at Ventusky earlier it looked like there might be a much more powerful storm over on the Atlantic side by next weekend. But that seems to have fallen off the forecast now.

I got all weeds. Had 1.40" last eve. Both systems will miss my area.

We are under a flash flood watch here thru Tuesday. Light rain today. Just 0.07" so far. Yesterday we got 0.20" of rain, all in about a half hour late afternoon.

Before yesterday's rain shower, Connie and I had just finished up putting some drip panels (2" wide "L" shaped aluminum stock) on the edge of the porch roof to try to keep heavy rain water from looping underneath the porch roof edge onto the screen enclosure. That was causing water splatter onto the floor of the porch. Since getting the new roof installed and a coating put on the porch roof, the rain water runoff just acts differently than it used to. I guess having the oak tree removed made a difference too, as there isn't the tree detritus that used to be laying on the roof to slow down the rain runoff.

Well, we are getting rain from Tropical Storm Fred today. 1.82" so far, so not REAL bad. A bit breezy but nothing note worthy. Just a good day to stay inside the house and putter around all day long. :)

Wound up getting 2.75" of rain on Monday.

Quite a bit of wind that knocked some small branches out of some trees, but nothing really serious.
