Is anybody 'up' for a trip to Gainesville next month, for a day of spectating during the 38th running of the AC/Delco Gatornationals :
I heard some of our group, talking about going on Friday (when ticket-prices are most-reasonable, with General Admission, including a pit-pass, costing $33.00 ) to see a pair of Professional (Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock, Pro Stock Motorcycle ) Qualifying Sessions, as-well-as Top Alcohol Dragster, Top Alcohol Funny Car, and Pro Modified Sportsman classes, too.

Count me IN as the first to join you!
I try to go every year IF the weather is OK. You get to see most everyone that's trying to get into the show, not just the ones that make it. Lots of blown up stuff (which I'm familure with) and such. Great time and only on Friday due to the increased prices Sat & Sunday!
NEXT? Glenn:dancer01:

QUOTE]
:icon_cheers: You did a fine job!!! I only suggested meeting up next time, so that we're all on the same page and no ONE person has to shoulder the responsibility of trying to "set it up" (those of us wanting to meet others from the forum).
Thanks for setting this event up and allowing us to tag along!

nice-picture of McEwen's Coors-sponsored Corvette Funny Car!!!!!

:hehehe:

After retiring that C3, had ran an identically-painted C4 into the mid/late-'80s, then had a one-off '57 Bel Air body built for his chassis, retired from 'official' NHRA Championship Racing, and started a craze of retro/nostalgia Funny Car racing:
I took this picture of McEwen's 'earlier' C3 Funny Car, wish he used to win the prestigous U.S. Nationals in 1978 over arch-rival/friend Don "the Snake" Prudhomme, while on-display at the Pontiac Excitement Nationals a few years ago.....

Thanks!
It was my first time using PhotoBucket. I would like to control the speed of the slide show, but I didn't see anywhere to do that.

I have both the McEwen "Mongoose" & Prudhomme "Snake" from Hot Wheels. They are still in the blister pack.

Great pics! I still have a bunch on my camera that I will post as soon as I can. Got a TON of stuff to catch up on after being away for a few days....

Personally I thought it was a great little day trip. Would like to take part in more of that caliber..........

It was great getting to meet you, Connie, ynkedad and all the others today.
It is nice to be able to put a face with the forum name.

More events would be GREAT!

Enjoyed meeting some of you guys today. I look forward to going to more events like this. I just got my 98 last week and live in Ocala so it was a short drive. It was a good excuse to see the museum.

:welcome: to the site. It was a pleasure meeting you and your Dad.
:shrug01: Sorry you had to drive so far! :hehehe:
Hope to have more time to talk at the next event.

It was a good trip and turned out to be a very good day.
I enjoyed meeting "Gannet" and his wife as well as "ynkedad" and "Rich Z" at Sonny's.
I was late getting to the museum and by that time people were scattered out so I didn't meet anyone else.
It was still a good event and I'll look forward to the next one.

PHOTOS, Please!

Hey guys, with all the flash bulbs going off inside the museums, where are all the photos of the history of Drag Racing? :shrug01:
So far only McEwen has been shown. And don't forget the other building. Thanks in advance. Glenn

I didn't really take any inside because it was my 3rd trip to the Museum. I did take the photo of our group and one shot of this $15,000.00 coffee table. :ack2:

Yeah, I have been several times so I didn't spend any time taking shots inside, but now I have friends who knew I went asking for photos. Guess I got caught this time. Thanks for posting the table. Glenn

Did you look at thread 122?
I have 3 slideshows on there that are from the museum trip.

I tried to help park cars, and get everybody inside for a head-count, but when I 'answered Nature's Call', by the time I came back into the Gift Shop, half the group was dispersed:
