Saying Goodbye to a Old Friend

9T8Vette

Been around for awhile
This morning we had to put down my Rednose PitBull. He has been in the family for 16 years. This was a very hard thing to do.He was in alot of Pain.We was only making him suffer bye keeping the dog alive. We miss him already , 16 years is along time together. He was a UKA pure breed Rednose Pitbull. His Father and Mother were show dogs not fighters or Hogdogs. The father was a Grand Champion for 3 years running .Rocky Redboy was his name. Here's a few pic's of my Rocky at the ages of 10 and at 16 :(

Thank You RichZ ,we are still having a tough time We have no kids so he was our kid.We also have a 5 year old boxer that we love as our kid too.

Yeah, I had many dogs when I was growing up. Loved every one of them. I accidentally killed one myself (freak accident throwing a hard ball playing catch with my dad that hit the dog right in the head) and I was devastated. Dogs to become part of the family, so it is just like having one of the family pass away.

Take care.......

There is nothing like the loss of a child/pet. :nonod: Enjoy the memories that you shared with him. Sorry to hear about Rocky.

I can understand and sympathize. You did the right thing by him, especially since he was in pain. We're lucky we can help our animal friends out that way when the time comes. We had a 15 year old dobe we had to put down a few years ago and the memory of how hard it was is still there. Enough said....

:wavey: It's been aweek since i had to put down my Good friend. It has been tough but Life goes on and we always have Memories.I want to THANK ALL OF YOU for kind words .If you have had to go thru this then you know what i mean. Thanks again Ric

9T8, I do know what you mean. These are not pets, they are members of the family and it is a terrible loss. About 12 years ago we lost our Dachshound and I could not believe how difficult that was for my wife and I. So much so that I told me wife I did not want anymore dogs because I just did not want to go through that again.

You are right that life goes on, and it has for us and our TWO Shih Tzus that are now 10 years old, and I dread the thought of the eventual loss of either of these family members! But the pleasure that they bring to us over their life time far out way the pain when they leave us!

Hang in there Bud!

Sorry to hear!:nonod: I will have two rottweilers at the present moment. one is 6 months old and the other is 13 years old. The old guy has a growth that is in-operable in his left ear. I fear that the same decision might be coming to me as well. That will definitely be one of the hardest decisions in my life to date.
