Searching for C5 Z06

A question to everyone:
Someone in the german corvette forum has written, that it might be a problem to get a test drive with a vehicle on a car dealer.
Hey, that doesn´t sound very.....cool.
Before I would buy a car, a test drive with it for a couple of miles (need to test every gear!) is a must! Without it, I would say - sorry, but there are other options.
Please tell me your experience - is it that problem to test a vette before the buy?
I have no problems if potential customers test drives mine, but according to Nation Wide there will be a Sales Representative by your side!!

I have absolutely NO PROBLEM if a salesman or the owner sits next to me during the test drive.
It is preferred by myself, then he or she could explain a little bit and could lead me through the traffic.

But if it´s generally not wished for taking it out for a ride, indifferent if I go out alone or with someone who takes care of the car, then I have a problem.

Perhaps they are more cooperative then the german guy said :shrug01:

I know mine is not the car for you.

I fully expect a potential buyer to test drive mine. I also fully expect to be in the passenger seat during the test drive. I personally wouldn't purchase any car without test driving it.

It's going to vary from dealer to dealer. In fact sometimes a salesman may be more nervous in a dealership than the next salesman in the same dealership that wants to get the commission from the sale. If you show mature behavior, and ask that the salesman go with you there is a better chance that you will get the test drive you hope for.

My only intention is getting one of their cars. Ok, they don´t know that.
Maybe they will be afraid that I´m "only" 24 and they believe I´m not able to buy it. Oh man, maybe a lot of cash could help.
Don´t know either how to pay - credit card would cost me a lot of fees (1,85 % of the whole amount) and a lot of your dollars in my pocket make me nervous, too.
My preferred payment method would be a regular transfer from my bank account in germany to the dealers/sellers one. Fast and I can do it from every computer, so he can see that I have the money to pay for the car.

Just 19 days ahead :D

Hey Jim,
I took a look on this selling thread, but a missing HUD and the 85k miles
don´t put my interest on it. I will not have a second chance for getting a vette in the near future, so it has to be nearly perfect for me and shall fit my conditions.
I believe, that you and the rest of the forum know the seller and his vette and that it´s a fair and honest deal, but it won´t be mine.
2 more weeks to go - then I will find out for what I´ve made the journey.

Scratch this one off the list, it sold friday for 31k asking price to a man from Alabama.
good luck with the search.

another one 03 MY 40k but you have to bid its in miami and @ $23K now

And it was sold for 23k $. Oh man....I would bid but then there MUST be someone who can look at the car before I do it.
It´s a pity in every case, that such a nice car goes out for just 23k $.This is NOTHING in my mind.
But from here, several thousand miles away, I cannot do anything and bidding WITHOUT seeing is jusk a high risk - too high for me.

These are my favourites now:

I don´t know why the second one is so much cheaper than the first one - they have mostly the same condition.
Perhaps someone knows details about one of the cars...:wavey:

That's a problem with cars sold on Ebay. Especially when they have a Buy It Now feature. You want to see them in person before you bid on them, but there is always the chance that someone will click that button while you are on the way out to see it. Kind of really puts you on the spot. Which I guess is great for the seller, since they have to realize the pressure it puts on the buyer. Lots of opportunities for pieces of crap to get sold that way, so be careful. I've seen some pics that looked great but upon real close inspection of the photos some subtle flaws were noted. When I was looking for a C6, there was a gorgeous Lemans Blue one down in Miami that I was REAL close to clicking the button on. But looking hard at the photos, I noticed that all three of the front spoilers underneath of the front bumper were missing. That was NOT a good sign, so I dropped that idea.

Yeah, you might be able to find a good deal on Ebay, but be on your toes.....

Good luck!

Hey Jim, nice cars!
The last one you mentioned was the one which has been sold in ebay for just 23k $ yesterday....

I have to limit the search on Miami and a circle of 200 miles around it, cars far away from it cannot be considered.

The yellow 2002 - where is it located? I couldn´t find it out...

29500 $ he wants for it - fair deal I guess for the mods he has done?[/QUOTE]

I would say a very good deal..It has comparable mods to mine except for..MCM Hood, spoiler, Tune and a couple other xtras..15k miles.and one year newer.I have been thinking of selling mine to get a new Z, and I would not take less than $34,000....
Heck his wheels and tires alone are over $4000...
