Snake ID request

Any idea what kind of snake this is Rich? He was in the little pond near my house and the wife spotted him first. He crossed the water and seemed to be more on the surface than under the surface with his body as he swam. I was thinking Cotton Mouth, but the head didn't seem overy diamond shaped.

Just a common water snake. Probably a banded water snake. Florida has several varieties that only differ slightly in appearance. Completely non venomous. But if there are gold fish in the pond, they likely won't be there for much longer....

Here's what a cottonmouth typically looks like...

Thanks for the ID Rich! I was hoping it was a non-venom type.
