I dont kill snakes unless they pose a threat to me. We actually have a group of black racers that take up home under one of our sheds. Every time those things are around, no critters anywhere(including stray cats haha).

I hate any kind of snake. I might have a hard time getting close enough to a snake to kill it without a 12 ga.
I don't know how you stand to live where you might meet a snake at any moment.

All joking aside, the vast majority are harmless. Most will not hurt you but will make you hurt yourself (getting away):lmao:.

But I still don't like the slimey critters!

That said, if they're harmless (like your racers or the garter snake) then screw it, I'd leave 'em alone.

Scavanger, never move to a swamp. And buy a wood house. Little suckers hear about it and run from miles away, and bring all sorts of friends. Most of Florida isn't as bad as it is where I live (ever been to Orlando?), just anywhere with water.

Hell, I've been bitten by LOTS of nonvenomous snakes and it's nothing to fret over. Unless it is a HUGE python or something of that caliber, it's no worse than getting your hand caught in a black berry bush. Snakes' teeth are designed to simply hold onto their prey while they overpower it or constrict it.

I live where the gators roam. Corn snakes don't scare me, I had a pet one once. So I'd just confiscate yours likely. Mine got loose and into the attic. Slithered over some wires and fried himself...:nonod:

Ouch.... I hope you fixed those bare wires. Sounds like a fire hazard (not to mention snake hazard) to me........
