Got the Contributing Memberships stuff finally worked out and made up a thread as a sort of "How-To" to help people figure out how to participate. So if you need help figuring it out, here's the thread you need to take a look at -> http://www.corvetteflorida.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3581
Thank you, everyone!

Heck, we voluntarily cancelled our home owner's insurance last Fall. We figure we are probably just pissing away the money anyway with State Farm. The insurance companies try to scare you into buying their product with their advertising, then when it comes time to collect, those "good hands" and "like a good neighbor" often just seems to vanish. Heck, if we had just kept the money we spend on that insurance in the bank, we would have quite enough to fix most things anyway.
We wanted to opt out of the hurricane insurance, which was the biggest chunk of the bill, but they wouldn't let us, saying we had to have the whole package. So we decided we didn't want ANY of it.
As long as you can afford the replacement cost of the home should it be destroyed by a hhuricane (or any other act for that matter) then you probably made a good move.
Several years ago, I considered doing the same thing.
Never did it though.
What about the protection against personal injury claims on your property? Are you still covered or are you swinging in the breeze on that?
Insurance is a rip off, but a necessary evil for most of us commoners.
In Florida, you are not "required" to have auto insurance either.
It's "financial responsibility" that you have to maintain.
Even the multi-gazillionaires keep auto insurance though. For the cost, it's cheaper thanh placing your own $$ at risk.
Well keep our fingers crossed for citrus county. I am only two counties south in Pasco County, Wesley Chapel. It is a great place to live. Just far enough into the country to have peace and quiet but only about 25 mi. from downtown Tampa and 45 min drive to the beach. Citrus county is great too like all the posts above. There are lots of state parks and forrest in that area. Plus with the Sunshine Parkway (Toll) you can get to Tampa very quickly. A track there would certainly be a plus, I know I would get quite a bit of use out of it. But also attract alot of great car/hot rod/corvette folks too.
