St Armands?

I see no problem with "People's Choice" as my Vette is a daily driver with 76K miles.

My point exactly. Our '03 has over 65/k and has never come close in a "Peoples Choice" but in a judged show I have always taken home a trophy. So why go? As I said, only the venue saves this show for me.
Hell, my 01 driver has 41/k and I can't get a trophy at any Vette show to save my a$$
Maybe more naked women are needed or a larger fan base :lmao:

what is "special" about your 03?? Is it stock?? Peoples Choice is not always about how clean your car is....people like "bling" and modificationsand I don't mean floormats and clip on exhaust tips or fancy armrests. I don't show my 07 Z06 (26K onthe clock) because its stock...anyone can see a stock car at the dealership. I honestly don't know why anyone shows a stock car that less than 10 years old. I can appreciate stock classics especially the c1-c4 class. Judged shows OTOH are all about cleanliness and "correct" cars.

With the exception of lack of rest rooms, being gouged by a local eaterie (Ristorante Italy - open air with yellow awning on one of side streets) $23.01 for 2-7" personal pizzas and large cokes (tasted horrible BTW) before we could use their restroom facilities (which the Health Dept. would love to see - anyone from HD reading?) we manageed to have a good time...As to whether we return next year, that remains to be seen...

FYI - Despite one Skyway member teling me that no Porta Potties were allowed, I later found out from another event coordinator planning his event that City does allow them...

And to add insult to injury, the local LEO's were issuing parking tickets...

And as for People's Choice, what can you say that has'nt been said already...

Armando

I agree they need a porta potty solution.

Tickets?? where were you or the violators parked? Although after the show we parked and walked from down the street and I saw no meters so it can't be for that.

been showing since 03 and have always had "mods" painted engine compartment, painted interior, air brushing, engine mods, exhaust ect. I have only won 1 people's choice (Dimmit) and never a judged show.

I go to be with my friends, the club etc. I never go to win. I detail my Vette ect. Put some extra bugs on it....I let the kids sit in it, I tell people about it. Honestly when I won Dimmit I was surprised ( my friends said you won....me )

Armando, what were they issuing tickets for?

That New Porsche and a couple others got tickets for parking in a no parking area. Around the outside the circle it was 3 hour parking. This is where I was parked, for over 6 hours and no ticket and I was 3 cars in front of the Porsche.

I didn't hang around for the rewards, but I don't think Rickey Joe won anything other then a T-shirt and I believe he has more bling then you; except for the big chrome thing on top of your engine.

Ok it is about the right amount of "bling" ;)
I guess bee and flowers are not "bling"

yeah well there is such a thing as to much bling....my bling adds 100RWHP :D ....some people have so much sh** you can't tell they have a motor in there...hell for all we know they have never cleaned under the shiny covers :rofl1:

My point was no one wants to see a plain car at a show you can see them at a dealership any day of the week. Classics excepted. I especially hate wings so large you can seat a party of 12 for dinner and people who got a group buy at XYZ Superstore and purchase every single gold accessory and stuck them on...but then hey each to their own

car shows

Im with Shadow and Yellow when i go to a car show I do it 1st for the love of the car ,2nd to help a good cause ie cancer ,childrens etc , 3rd to enjoy the other beatifuls car there . How you judge a car thats is fairly new and it is stock . It is hard to do ,:banghead::banghead: . I allways look for the cleanest car . An for peoples choices face it, they look for car with a lots of stuff on it , mufflers chrome ,gadgets etc. By the way Yellow Me and My wife seen your car b-4 and we think is a very sexy car and good looking. Just love the car that you have as you should love your family and this awesome country. GOD BLESS AMERICA.:dancer01::wavey::wavey:

I'm just guessing, but maybe it was because the local constabulary could tell the difference between an PORSCHE and a CORVETTE:lmao::rofl1:

They may have figured your vette was with the show and left it alone. On the other hand, the Porsche obvioulsy was not:NoNo:

Who knows?

Bling schming:lmao:I've seen some cars with so much chrome and paint they have to stop at the weigh stations enroute. Maybe I'm too old school, but I still appreciate "seeing" the engine instead of the covers:rolleyes: That said, I still appreciate custom painted covers:thumbsup:

I absolutely love to see the LS engines sans the covers with the painted coil packs, chromed or brushed intakes and lookin' old school:thumbsup::dancer01: Something very bad assed about that look:thumbsup:

The biggest problem I have with most vette shows is for the most part, they all look alike:( Few people want to really mod the exterior or the interior with anything other than paint. I've seen some very nice custom interiors and exteriors though that break up the monotony.

As far as the wings go, if it's your stereotypical "ricer" wing, bolted into the fiberglass/urethane bumper and not attached to the frame, then I'm with ya:thumbsup:; however, if it's functional, I have no problem with it. the problem is, some people just can't tell the difference.

But to each thier own. That's what makes the world go 'round:thumbsup::dancer01:

Lady, when I "won" at the Hooters show in Bradenton I was like WTH!? You gotta be kiddin' me!:rofl1::rofl1:I know it was dark, but I could still see the dirt:lmao:I called it custom by interstate......

It's all about having some fun...so lets just go and have some fun.:dancer01:

Yes for a good cause - especially children's cancer (St. Jude in particular)

Man, I have NEVER expected to win a trophy at any of the car shows we have attended. I clean up my car and shiny up anything that can be made shiny, but realistically, it's only for my own pleasure in doing so. I like my car to LOOK good. But only to the level where it is reasonable to me. I put bling under the hood because it pleases me, not because I think it may coerce someone to vote for MY car over someone else's. I just enjoy being at the shows, and wish I could squeeze in the time to attend more of them.

At the last show we attended, it was a judged show, and the judges were hovering around my car. I asked the guy parked next to me what the judges were actually looking for in order to rate a car. He said "mostly lint"...... I barely stifled a laugh. But the guy was NOT cracking a joke like I thought he was doing. So I'm standing there watching the judges looking inside my car at all the sand (I live on a dirt road), thinking "if they find those pretzels I dropped alongside the seat a few weeks ago, I hope they will at least pull them out for me....." :lmao: Lint? I was hoping they wouldn't find any old socks underneath the seats......... :rofl1: They didn't spend much time there, so I guess they found the pretzels........... :hehehe:

Sorry, but I guess I'm just not into this at the level where I really care about such things. I appreciate those who can and will put in that kind of dedication, but it just isn't me.

:lmao::lmao: you R too much RichZ:rofl1:

Personally i like going to talk to fellow corvette owners :yesnod:and steal their idea's :hehehe:Was at the show for a while met C5rick,98 softtail and company and " Mr.THOR" and had to spilt to meet a friend at the Braden River high school car show. Did have a busy day .Loved every minute of it:thumbsup:

I belong to the yellow shirt club and I want you to know how I vote. I agree with Red98Z. If your hood is not up then you do not want to be judged and I move on. That goes for all cars including those in my own club. One item I look for that helps me separate the cars is did the owner take the time to wipe the sand off the treads? In C1 & C2 class I favor the cars that are driven to the show. I can't stand it when an older car is backed out of an enclosed trailer and put on display never experiencing road grime, love bugs or rain drops. How hard is it to polish your car at home put it in a trailer and enter it in a show. Now, don't get me wrong. I really do appreciate all the work that went into restoring these vettes but this is the wrong venue for these cars. Stay out of the local car shows and go compete with the big boys.

First of all....

Deb and the kids had a great day at the Circle, Shopping and Snacking...

We had a great lunch at Tommy Bahama's...

Chit-Chat with friends, new and old...

What surprised me was when a person with a "voting card" asked me what was the difference in the "73 parked behind me and my car, (a 2000 C5).

I told the guy to ask the owner of the '73...

This is an election year ....
