STS oil leak problem...

Well, been taking the C5Z out for a drive here and there. Yesterday Connie and I drove 110 miles up to Thomasville, GA and back without a lick of problem with oil being blown out of the turbos.

Had some guy post an interesting experience over on CF the other day. Apparently he had his car up on ramps as well, and had the same problem afterwards. He believes it is some sort of check valve problem caused from the car not being level for a period of time. I've forwarded this on to both Chris at STS and Greg at AntiVenom for comment. Sure would hate to think that my new race ramps will now be a liability to use on this car.

I guess the true test would be to switch the pump back over to low speed to see what happens. Not sure I want to take the chance of blowing out a couple quarts of my new Royal Purple oil change, though.........:nonod:

Just hope I am not wasting a trip down to Seffner for something like this. Not that I don't enjoy seeing Greg and Rashelle, but this just is not a good time of year for me to be spending time away from the critters.....

Figure I needed to do a followup on this situation.

So far the new pump has been working flawlessly. Chris Martinez at STS said the techs tested the pump and found the following:

Under the 8 volts load IE low speed the pump was under to much strain to
keep oil flowing fast enough, so the oil would back up and fill the turbo
center housing. Now it was only a matter of time before it died all the way.

Accordingly, the pump was to be covered under the warranty and I should get a refund of the money I had to pay up front for that pump.

For the record now almost two months after this statement was made, I STILL have not received that refund.

Rich, You need to start calling them on a daily basis. If that doesn't work, let them know that you will be contacting the BBB and the local news station, and writing letters to the Corvette magazines regarding their lack of customer service. Sometimes all it takes is one phone call to let them know you are serious about getting your money back.

Good luck,
Joe B.

I've sent an email to Chris about this. I think it will be obvious that I am not happy about this. In matters such as this, it's always a good idea to have a paper trail of the correspondence.
