STS Twin Turbos

Rich Z said:
OK everyone! I need you all to cross everything you have for me. Greg just called me and said the parts to repair the dyno SHOULD be in on Friday. If so, I can take the Z down there on Saturday and leave it for the install next week.

Woo Hoo!!!!:dancer01: :hurray:

nice man, cant wait for results, make me a believer :D

Greg says the wait will be WELL worth it. He's installed quite a few of these, I believe, so he certainly should know..... :D

Shhh! Murphy's Law is lurking nearby......... :ack2:

Damn...... Told ya. Just found out that one of the refrigeration units in the reptile building is iced up. And with the animals just beginning the hibernation cycle, I have to have this fixed PRONTO. And here is it Saturday night. :banghead:

Waiting for a call back from a service guy.

Damned Murphy.....................

OK! Service guy came out tonight. Found a slow leak at the condenser that apparently was there from day 1. So that appears to be fixed....

So heading down to Anti Venom early tomorrow (Sunday) morning to drop off the Z!

Well the Z is now at Anti Venom. Got down there around 1:30 or so and Greg opened up the place so we could put the STS kit inside and the Z into one of his bays. He'll be starting the install on Monday (today!). He says it should be done Friday or Saturday.

BTW, you guys should see the "rod" he drives! Pretty cool looking..... :D

It was good to finally meet Greg, and he seems like a great guy. Also got to meet the guy (David Thomas) who had his car featured in the Vette Magazine article for the STS install. David was REAL emphatic that I would REALLY like this setup!

It was great that they took time out of their Sunday afternoon for us.

So anyway, all the ingredients are now in the oven awaiting master chef Greg to do his thing.... :D

I love vettes but would be nice to put that kit on an unsuspecting GTO that kind of looks like a cavalier......Until you hit he gas.

Status check....

I called Greg today to see how the install was going. He said he just finished putting on the turbos and was going to begin doing the tune. He mentioned something about a break-in period for the turbos he has to do first. But he said everything is going well. All the parts were in the kit and no problems at all. He did find a loose ignition wire on one of the plugs, so no telling how long that has been there. He said he found a corroded pin/wire on the IAT sensor that was causing (hopefully) these intermittent spikes I have been logging on the IAT readings.

I asked him about the "before" run on the dyno with my Z and he said it registered 375 rwhp, which is normal for a Z06 with headers and better intake. I'm curious now to see what the "after" dyno pulls will produce after the tune.......

In any event, looks like the wife and I will be going back down to Seffner on Friday or Saturday to pick up the Z :dancer01:

My '01 Z with LT headers, intake, exhaust and tune was 366RWHP. The problem was the temp. It was 96*. I'm going to wait for it to get a little cooler and I'm hopin' it can make that number rise. It should, because there is no way that I only added 8hp for just adding headers. I also have an exhaust leak I need to find. I haven't had the chance to get it up in the air recently. Hopefully soon.

On my 03 I hit 395RWHP..TPIS headers = hi-flow cats=Corsa=x-pipe=plugs and wires=throttle body=Tom's air box,and his tune..and I used Greg's dyno...so I bet you can improve easily on your numbers...

Sheesh...... And here I was thinking I could change my avatar......

This morning I get up and find that the automatic generator I have on the animal buildings is running. That's strange, because the power was on in the house, which is tied into the same local grid. So I went over to the reptile building and flipped the main circuit breaker. Yep, lights went out in the building, then the circuitry kicked in to switch over to the generator output. So obviously it wasn't a power failure that tripped the generator on.

It's like I have this supreme power to break things around here simply by planning to go away for a day or two. WITHOUT FAIL, something will break around here the day prior to our scheduled leaving this place......... :banghead:

Hopefully the generator tech will get down here this afternoon. Otherwise I am screwed for this weekend. I can't just leave the generator running, and if it is not working, WITHOUT FAIL, the power will go out while we are away, and likely kill all the animals when the buildings overheat. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

I could just SCREAM....... And I would, except I'm not sure I would be able to stop.......

Well the generator tech came out, but of course there wasn't a problem at that time. He suspects it may be because there was a LOT of condensation inside of the controller box inside the building. It's in the "cold" room, which right now is 55 degrees (necessary in the breeding cycle of the snakes I work with) and the equipment generates enough heat within the box to form condensation inside. So I opened the doors to the controller box and breaker boxes (they were sweating as well), to hopefully keep them all dried out.

The wife and I are leaving out tomorrow (Friday) and taking a leisurely drive down route 98/19 through Crystal River and then down to Tarpon Springs to play tourist. Spending the night around there somewhere and then going to Anti Venom on Saturday to pick up the Z. Wonder how hard it is going to be to stay under the speed limit on the drive back home with my twin turbos freshly installed? :vette:

Hopefully we can sneak out of here before Murphy catches wind that his latest trick failed......

Take 301 back up and head through WALDO....:lmao:

...Just jokin' Rich. Wouldn't do that to anybody:rofl1:

I stopped in at AntiVenom today and saw and heard the car.

WOW!

Serious, serious hardware. A sleeper it ain't. :)

Congrats on one killer machine!

I saw your car the other day at AntiVenom.

Did not hear it tough:nonod:

So what are the numbers and how do you like it.
