Vicki has this Sunday off, :dancer01: so thought I would check to see if anyone wanted to go for a short drive or go out for breakfast. Sorry for the short notice.

Rick, we usually go out for Bfast with the kids on the weekends but this Sunday we will be heading down to the Keys for a week, maybe next time.

Sorry Rick, I have out of town company in this weekend. Glad to see you got moved all right and a home for the vette.

Vicki and I took 41 down to Ft Myers, stopped in Punta Gorda for breakfeast and shot back on 75. Not much traffic which made it real nice. :yesnod:

When I started the thread about breakfast I mentioned we would like to go for a cruise. The only replies I got were no goes because some had other commitments. On Sunday morning I asked Vicki which direction to head and she said south, she knows I hate driving north of the Skyway. So it was last minute here. When it cools off a tad, we want to take a drive down to Captiva. I think driving the islands would be nice in the Vette. We spent a week there two years ago and would like to visit for day. If nothing before that maybe we can meet for breakfast or something then. Justa thought :yesnod:

Rick, let us know when you're thinking to do the Captiva run. That's down our way and may be something we can get in on

If we decide to go it will proably be early mid October. Has anyone eaten at the Bubble Room. We stayed 100 yards from there, but never tried it.

I have only had dinner at the Bubble Room. It is a very eclectic sort of place with 50s memorabilia everywhere. I have heard some people not be happy but everything that I have had has been very good. They have a great prime rib (Tarzan cut, very large on the bone) as an example. But the best things are the rolls and the desserts. They bring you a basket of rolls that includes garlic bread and sweet cinnamon rolls. Very good! Their desserts are incredible. They have very large cakes and they only get about six slices out of the cake. You will definitely be bringing some home.

If you are looking for a place for lunch, you also might want to consider the Mucky Duck. Looks right out at the gulf and the food is pretty good as well. I have heard that the Lazy Flamingo is also good, but I have not tried it yet.

I wish we had known that you were headed south on Sunday, my wife and I would have been happy to pull one of the Vettes out of the garage and meet you somewhere! Maybe next time!

Mucky Duck gets my vote for lunch! The Key Lime pie is tops  Parking is on the sand, though. So, some folks might have a problem with that....but then, it is on the beach!!

I hope it happens in the first half of Oct or in Nov cause in between I will be doing the Tail of the Dragon & Blue Ridge Pkwy with jcb_njb...

I was looking my calender and October 14th seems to be the best day for us to drive down Sanibel/Captiva way. However somewhat flexible after that date.

That sounds good if im off work I would like to go. P.S. Why do you hate going north, I know a lot of cool twisty roads through brooksville to sharpen driving skills. :D

When I was last at Captiva we stayed about 100 yards from the Mucky Duck, but I think it's closed on Sundays.
I'm going to make a Captiva Run post in a day or two.

Rick,

You are correct, the Mucky Duck is closed on Sundays. Here is a link to their website.

Parking is always an issue on Captiva. None of the restaurants on or around Andy Rosse have adequate parking. Here are a few options. At the four way stop at Andy Rosse, if you make a right and head 1/2 block toward Pine Island Sound you will find Captiva Cruises. They have paid parking, I think it is $5 and the parking lot is a sand/ground shell base. You can park there and then walk to the Bubble Room, Key Lime Bistro, RC Otter's, Latte Da, and Sunshine Cafe.

There is also a restaurant called the Green Flash and it is a couple blocks before the 4 way stop at Andy Rosse, and they have their own parking. I have not eaten there but have heard it has good food. It does have a view of Pine Island Sound. Here is the link to this place.

I hope this helps!

Yea, No parking anywhere and I think it's $4.00 to park at any beaches.
I was reading up on the Green Flash yesterday a possibility.
When we went on the Captiva Dolphin Cruise we walked over and they still wanted us to pay for parking.
