A TRIVIA ? for ya does anyone know why the keyboard is not in alphabet order???? Type writers also??? give ya a week ta get this! From the desk of the PHANTOM!!

Because it was determined via a typewriter that the keystrokes in an alphabetical layout would interfere with the typing. Anyone who has ever had an old manual typewriter has certainly gotten the letter imprinters (the part that actually impacts the paper) all tangled and snarled. Well the current design of keyboard layout was made to SLOW DOWN the typing speed so this wouldn't be that much of an issue.

Wow! That's a lot better than what I was thinking. I figured the typewriter was invented in Russia where the letters are messed up anyway so...:hehehe:

YUP ! ya! got er rignt! I can see. I'm gonna have to come up with some better stuff!!!!!! from the desk of the phantom!!

I've always heard that it was because of how often the letters were used. the left hand has 4 fingers on a, s, d, f. The right hand on h, j, k, l. You only have to move your fingers one key over to reach any key, and the most common letters you already have your fingers over. Then, the Shift key and other accessories were added so that you could hold them down with a pinky finger and use your other fingers to use the letter keys. And of course, the space bar is where it is so you could press it with your thumbs.

Never, took typing do the one finger thing takes forever! RICH Z got it right, when they had the old manual typewriters, they mixed the letters up because the writers were not fast enough to keep up with someone good at it & they never changed anything.
