Trout fishing????????????

OK wifey and I are going to North Georgia next month for a few days overlooking the mountains. I have also booked a trout fishing gig.

How many of you guys have fly fished and how pesky are trout? I'm hoping that with a guide and a dumb Florida boy following I might even catch a few fish. Actually I'm hoping for several trout cause they taste great.

Tell me your experiences. We're going to the Ellijay area of Georgia and have got the proper licensing and such.

Oh and Andy keep that white crap up north.

Yeah, trout is right tasty.

Have fun on your trip, and good luck with the fishing.

I'm envious but happy for you. I did some fly fishing up in Alaska back in the 90's and remeber it was a blast. It simply a wrist action and timing allowing the line to swing in a parabolic arc and allowing the time for the line to move before you twitch your wrist for the the next movement. Your guide will show hopefully on a clear ground area first to learn the mechanics. THis way, you won't have to worry about tangling the line in the brush or with your lovely wife.
You'll also have a lead of line at your feet and so be careful you don't trip or wrap yourself in it.
On the other hand, you might say FTS and grab a spinning rod and do it the traditional way. :lmao: Have fun and let us know what happened.
PS: If you have a camp fire, just gut your trout, season it with your favorite toppings, wrap it in aluminum foil, and place along the edge of the camp fire for about 20-30 minutes and voila, chef, you've got a memorable camp fire meal. Hope this helps my friend.

Awesome Mark. I never even considered throwing the spinners in for the trip. Will probably do that, just in case I'm a slow learner. Appreciate the tips on the proper trout preparation. I'm an ole salt water fisherman so this fresh water stuff should be fun.:yesnod:

Hand grenade...:rofl1:

Hummmm now that kind of forward thinking I can appreciate and who knows it might be necessary.

Hey Ken. Did you catch the big one yet? Hope the lines didn't tangle up your feet! :lmao: Got to see some pics man. :shrug01::thumbsup:

Don't actually go for a couple of weeks yet but glad you asked. BTW should I change the line out on my light spinners to a fly line and if so what number line? Floating line, sinking line or (or as it'll probably end up) line knoted in a durn tree?:shrug01:

I think your normal line for your spinning rod is fine. Fly Rods, as you will see use a different line and the spinner attachment is different. I don't hold out as an expert as I've only fly fished once. I would still suggest trying out the fly rod in an open field or parking lot so you can see the extent of the parabolic arc needed. If you are in a bunch of trees or brush, etc., you'll become very frustrated. Good luck man.

Ya know.............them boots gotta be a size 10 or larger before you are allowed to keep them. Gotta throw back anything smaller :hehehe::hehehe:!
Tree limbs and stumps are a WHOLE nuther thing altogether !
Andy :wavey:
