Tuning voodoo

Having owned corvettes since 1970 I aleady had old school tuning experience.
When I first bought the software I did many hours of scanning of my own car.
Head and cam S/C Z06.
I would go out every night between 11pm and 4 in the morning scanning pull over to the side of the road make some changes and scan again.
I did this for over 6 months just on my own car.
It's really not that hard, most of it is common sence. Learning to use the software is like learning any software, be it excel, frontpage, etc.
I am a quick learner and have taught myself many things over the years....
From playing the guitar, writing web pages, building aquariums, etc.
I have mfg. cool air filter systems for the C5, am the creator of the Z06 style screens that go in the front brake ducts, fenders, and rear facia and also the flushmount taillight kits.
LAPD and WCC were my customers for years until the market dropped out from so many people kncking them off.
Now I just tune the odb 3 cars and trucks.....
Idle issues on big cammed cars and forced induction is my specialty..

Sounds like a lot of trial and error stuff! Did you get yourself into any hot water doing it that way? Any tips about what NOT to do for a DIY tuner?

Sounds very challenging. I will be looking for a good place to tune my car as soon as funds permit. Where are you guys located?
