The US Gov't is backing GM warranties. If GM fails who do I call ? Do I call my senator if I have a battery problem? How will do repairs the defense dept or agriculture ? Does anyone have Barney Franks tel. number?

I'd call the O' himself but then again, I have a habit of skipping the BS chain of command:lmao:

As far as fixing it? I "ain't" lettin' the gubment touch a damned thing!! Every thying the touch turns to crap!

If GM files Chap 7, warranties are screwed. If they file Chap 11, they are still accountable to cover your warranty just it will be at a different shop.

This is what I found on the other corvette forum.

Warranties are insured
Insurance Security
The GM Protection Plan is insured by Motors Insurance Corporation of Southfield, Michigan, a member of the GMAC Insurance Group and carries an insurance rating of “A- Excellent” by the A.M. Best insurance rating agency. “A- Excellent” is the second highest rating assigned by A.M. Best and provides the assurance to GM extended warranty holders that sufficient cash is reserved for future claim payments, regardless of the present economic condition of automobile sales nationwide,

If you research online GMAC insurance is a profitable division, they actually make money.

The same thing applied to my t.v that I purchased through circuit city 2yrs ago. I bought the 5yr extended warranty, and when I saw them in the process of going under I worried..but on the homepage they said another company actually takes care of the extended warranties, not the company who actually sells them.

GM is the door salesman of your warranty, that is all. The way I see it, theres no need for extended warranties. If something is going to break, why replace it with the same problematic part? Invest in something aftermarket that is made to handle stuff. Hell my ac delco battery that gm replaced only lasted 5mths before it was completely shot, and it was a current production year with that 2 or 3 year usage warranty..needless to say and optima yellow top went in.

if the goverment is going to warranty cars how do you think the uaw will build them i think i will keep my 2000 frc

I heard a rumor that Chris Dodd, Barney Franks, Harry Reid and Pelosi will be in charge of extended warranties. But it is just a rumor.

By the way, today was Barney Franks' 69th birthday, no pun intended.

Well, I think I'll be holding onto that money was planning on spending on a new Z06 until the dust settles with all this stuff. The way things are going, there is going to be one big automobile company in this country owned and run by the feds. "Federal Motors".....

Thanks all for indulging my sick humor .Deep down I think we'll all be OK .Besides just think of the money I can make by parting out my 08 if GM folds :D
