:welcome: Mark!

I thought I would check your bio and found a few interesting items.

1. You are the same age as one of my Vettes.

2. Another Mid-Atlantic guy that has gone south! :yesnod:

3. Admits to never growing up. (Remember everyone is required to grow old, but no one is required to grow up. So you should fit in well on this board.)

But I do have one question for you, why PureRock105 and not PureRock94.9? :thinkin:

oh..let me answer this...Mark is known as "No Rock" by those of us who have had the pleasure of knowing him awhile...since 94.9 is "Soft, easy favorites" :hehehe:

:wavey: Mark

now you can tell them the rest :D

Pewter is mostly correct. I spent time in LA(Cali) in the late 80's when a
legendary hard-rock station was on Purerock 105.5 KNAC. When I returned to
Virginia my tag was 105-KNAC and people in radio started to call me that.

I've been "Purerock105" when I've worked in country, oldies, top 40, and now
current Soft AC formats.

And it's 'Soft & Contemporary" mofo, ..."Easy Favorites" is our sister station
the Dove, coincidentially at 105.5...Go figure :D

With this sort of background it sounds like commitment maybe an issue, except for your Corvette! :rofl1:

Yes, with the current state of terrestrial radio my only commitment is to a paycheck:D

I bought my Corvette while unemployed in between radio gigs.

Hockey was a lot more fun to watch in the 70's when players didn't wear helmets, it was much more personal. And despite what the NHL wants you to believe, helmets have NOT reduced injuries. Heck nowadays everyone goes whacking everybody with their sticks like they are Knights of the Roundtable or something.

Sorry, I like "oldtime" hockey......:D :D

Sweet!!! another fan of REAL hockey!!! I couldn't agree more. Helmets do nothing but create more high sticking penalties because it promotes carelessness with sticks. And while you are at it, allow fighting again. No better way to protect your star players than to give them a bodyguard. Besides the fact that there is nothing like an old school hockey fight to watch.

And dont get me started on how salary caps have ruined pro sports. Turned them all in to watered down pieces of crap. Parity by definition is average. Average is boring. Average sucks.

What is your view of the current state of testicle radio? I think is pretty bland thanks to the wonderful FCC and religious right. But then again i don't tune in anymore thanks to Sirius.

In a word...a joke. That feeling was accellerated in 1996 when the FCC
loosened the ownership rules and consolidation became the key play to bring
costs down and please shareholders.

Then again I know quite a few that have worked for both XM & Sirius and the
business model they evoke is far from actually making money so you do what
ever you can.

I hope that sat radio succeeds. I'm not sure i could go back to "regular" radio. The fact that all hell breaks loose if someone utters a "bad word" is very disturbing to me. Gas is 3 dollars a gallon, there is a war in Iraq, prisons are overcrowded, and school systems are broke. And this is what we worry about?? Next time you are at the station, get on the air and say "$hit" . see what happens. Yer right. What a joke!!! LMAO.
