What Kind of Snake Was This?

Found this shriveled up remains of a baby snake in my utility room. It is about 2.-2.5" from one shriveled side to the next. Stretched out, probably 3-4" long. Anyone know what kind it was?

That's a ringnecked one, pretty common guys who just run around eating worms. I doubt that was a baby though, you don't see much of this species because... quite honestly there isn't much to see.
 
LOL! Do you think you used a large enough image file!

It's called a "ring-necked snake". Pretty self explanatory why it is called that.

Completely harmless...

Haha...I wanted to try and get some detail on what was left. I've never seen such a critter before. It was just odd that it was in my utility room.

So is this the 'normal' size for a full grown one?

I see a few of the little ringers from time to time. Most common is the black snake. When i was hunting near the Levy county coast i would see the much bigger indigo, not sure it's spelled right. They would be sunning on cold days and had no fear of me.

The Indigo Snake is about the coolest snake of them all. I used to breed them when I lived in Maryland, but couldn't bring them to Florida when I moved here because they are protected species. Duh.... So I was BREEDING them critters. How would that be endangering the species? Seems that catching them or having them as pets is illegal, but bulldozing over their habitat to put in condos is not. :crazy03:
