Whos going to mile marker-1?

Just returned. It was ridiculously hot out there today and the event was very sketchy

They did not have ONE tent, not even for their own people. Not ONE porta potty, I felt sorry for the women, the guys were just taking care of business by the Swamp

I was nearly getting heat stroke. I waited FOUR HOURS before my 1st run. Crazy

Once I finally got out there on my 1st run I saw 168 w wing & slicks

2nd run without wing I saw 172 & slicks

3rd & last run I saw 172 WITH Wing & road tires

I probably could have seen 175 w the wing & road tires on the next pass but it was just too hot

I saw you there..

All of the above.
I have a sun stroked kiddo. I should have stayed on the rez and met up with my husband later. I know how to prepare next time,

I really hope they do this in the winter because it was awesome other than the heat! the people were great. And now the boys are in love with 1 mile runs. It was the first time so Im sure they learned from it.

The guys @ gm high tech gave me some sunblock and I forgot to do my face so Im tomato red there:lmao:

The bone stock 2010 camaro (except for speed limiter removal-no tuning) did 160 or 165 I cant remember right now.

Kevins ZR1 did 188mph on his street tires (which are now slicks)

and his 01 (all motor no juice )Z06 did 187 or 188 (long ride home I forget)
when his extremely secured carbon fiber hood crumbled off of his car like cardboard, So his ZR1 killer vanity plate is truthful.

All and all if they made this in the winter and had some vendors out there it would be awesome. Its was a HUGE turnout.

Warhorse I take it back. I burnt through my 50 spf, and Im blistered. That was rough.

My Seminole Angels rescued me from heat stroke.

That had to of been pretty freaky to have a hood fly I'mpressed with the Camaro!

off at those speeds!

He was thrilled, That thing was latched down so good and it still came up:lmao:

Very very Impressed with that Camaro, Gregs just happy that he can start putting the parts on now. Those headers are about to burn a hole on the floor..lol

The driving part was fun

I'd need a few more runs to perfect my technique

1 of the Breathless guys told me to leave the traction control ON through 1st & 2nd then shut it off in 3rd for best time

My 2nd run without the wing I forgot to shut it off  which probably messed up my speed a little

Still doing 150 at Homestead or Moroso is more exciting than 170+ on a long straight w no corners

Tell him to have ACP build him a carbon hood

I have an ACP Carbon hood and had no issues at 175 or so

We use ACP allot, Gregs vette has it. I think it might have actually been acp, They are awesome hoods. It was strapped down really good, just not good enough in the front you know. When he hit 188 it was gone, I bet he could have went faster. He wants to try something else anyway, something to match his ZR1. I cant believe he drove both cars, he was going to bring his 06Z too That would have been a hoot.:lmao:

The camaro did 152 or something on the first run in-till he got it down and figured out how he was supposed to shift for that.

How are you holding up today? I have one kid suffering from heat exhaustion. Even in the shade with allot of water it was just that brutal hot and I dont expect to go back in the summer again. Im still battered, I'm glad my Seminole friends came and rescued me. They are my heros.

My crew brought some tents and chairs so I had some cover and I always bring sunblock so I was good on that

I think I finally cooled off around 11 pm last night

Good, We were going to stay on the rez but we didn't know when he was going to be done with the article so we went. I didn't think it would have been that bad there, I hope they plan a little better next time. I should have drove my awd down there.

It was HOT! Holy smokes it was hot out there! Ground/track temps were 130+. I was pitted right next to Kevin's group. Nice guy and a good group with him...yeah, too bad about his hood, but his intake looked good uncovered!

I got there @ 0730 and did not get to run until 1130. It sucked just waiting around and getting fried. I hope next year it will be better organized, the promoter says it will be. I WILL be going back again.

I got 3 runs in: 169, 172, and 179. I was pleased.

I'll post up some pics and vids later today.

See ya!

You sound like me. Damn it was hot, but that was fun. We went for gmhtp and ended up falling for that kind of racing

our Kevins tires on the ZR1 practically melted off on his first pass so he didnt go again. Now we are left to wonder what it could have done. His michelin's looked like slicks. His videographer should have some videos up soon.

Hey I'm new here. The guy with the 70 Firebird at the race. Was good to meet some of you yesterday. Did any of you get any nice pics of all of the cars lined up in the staging lanes? I was by myself and didn't want to have a camera loose in the car during runs so I didn't get any good pics of the day.

You just wouldn't believe how many of us took photos of your car:lmao: I can get you more soon, this one was mine.

Im the wife of the man in the new Camaro, He talked about you a bit and he wanted me to give you the Tom Tom. I want a bird just like yours one day, Ive owned every generation but that one. my favorite.

P.S. You had allot of heart with her out there. You ran more than anyone there.

Thanks! When I go, I want my moneys worth in seat time! LOL So I try to get as many runs as I can at most events. Sometimes I've gotten over 20 runs at a drag strip test and tune! Yes I could let it cool off and get a little better speed or quicker time but I'd rather keep driving!

It got really hot staying in the car toward the end of the day so I got out for a few minutes down at the starting area to cool off a bit then made a couple more runs. My car ran nice and smooth all day with no problems. Sometimes it seems weird to be running around 150 MPH in such an old car and have it be so stable and smooth.

I thought the staging lanes were just an awesome sight with almost every car there a show quality car. It's rare to see that level of cars at any kind of race. So many nice Corvettes there! And no sense of competition just friends hanging out helping each other, cheering each other on.

Usually at racing events there's quite a few cars that look like beat up old race cars where the only concern is performance, but at this event nearly every car was a shining spotless show quality car. It was just so cool to stand way up in the front of staging and then walk down through all of the beautifull rides!

I wasn't looking for a pic of my car in particular but rather a pic that showed the overall level of the cars present because it was an awesome sight, something I'd never seen at any kind of race. If you do have any pics of my car that would be a bonus! If you do have any others I could PM you an email address to send them to. I don't want to clutter up a Corvette Forum with an ole Pontiac! LOL

I talked to your hubby and he offered the Tom Tom which was really nice of him. I probably should have stopped and got it because they were telling me speeds with a 35 MPH spread! I know I was within 5-10 MPH on every run. Should be nice to get all the upgrades on your car and have the car in the magazine! I saw him loosing out on runs while they were doing a photo shoot at the starting area but thats a small price to pay for fame! The pictures ought to look really cool with the landing strip lines as a backdrop for the pics.

John

Hey John, this is Scott, the guy with the black C6 ZO6 that was in back of ya the whole time we were in line. Welcome to the forum here! It was good meeting you, and I'm glad we got to 'bogart' some shade off of the trailer's canopy!

Here ya go:

I see my camaro butt:lmao: Great photo, that was the perfect element for photos.

P.S. Times are being posted and big guy was right, he thought he was doing a buck 51 and they are showing 150mph. I did hear the rumor that the cops radar gun was off.
