• Got the Contributing Memberships stuff finally worked out and made up a thread as a sort of "How-To" to help people figure out how to participate. So if you need help figuring it out, here's the thread you need to take a look at -> http://www.corvetteflorida.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3581 Thank you, everyone! Rich Z.

Whos going to mile marker-1?

I really wanted to go even as a spectator. I thought I would be busy here at home, but I ended up picking up my new ride Saturday in Cape Coral. Now that I have my first vette I may take it down there just to see what it can do.

My father in law has a Z16 like yours too! I dont think he would race it though. He lives out in Tampa Palms and drives it as many nights as he can, you might see him out and about one night.

Everyone is sayin that they were told a different time, Kevin still did damn good in his 01Z @ 177

What I want to know is.... that was a cops radar gun showing almost 10 MPH faster than everyone was going!:lmao:

another Video

I was told the first radar gun was showing slower than the actual speeds. Then they got another one and used a police car driving by totry to get an accurate calibration of sorts. Hopefully next time they'll have real timing traps.

Hey John, this is Scott, the guy with the black C6 ZO6 that was in back of ya the whole time we were in line. Welcome to the forum here! It was good meeting you, and I'm glad we got to 'bogart' some shade off of the trailer's canopy!

Hey Scott! Was good to meet you guys, and ya we were really lucky there was any shade up there in staging. Next time we'll all know more about where to set up pits areas so it should be easier on everyone.

Well just to put a different spin on the event.
I had No problem finding the place with the
Tom-Tom, but alot of folks missed the entrance.
Not even a cone to show where you turn in.
Getting into the track took for ever, it was very
disorganized. Time trials were to start at 9:00 am,
good luck with that. It was over an hour before
I saw any runs. There were alot of people and to
few trash cans,porta-potties, water, vendors, or
food concessions. All the times were/are good guess's
No timing equipment and no way of knowing how
fast cars were going. No PA system to tell folks
what was going on or speeds. Very disorganized.
My local 1/4 mile track looks big time compared to
this bush league operation. Did I say very disorganized.
I hear that the organizers made so much money
that they plan another event. Well, good luck
I will wait before I enter my car or even go the
track. Let's see if they can get their act together.
Did I say that they were very DISORGANIZED>

I agree. I hope they learned from this because it was a great idea. We didn't have any trouble finding it because we are use to the big cypress reservation, That and we just followed the line of people:lmao:

If I could see into the future like that I would have went to costco and made a freaking killing on water and hotdogs.

As for the time thing... Greg said the spedo hit 152, they told him 166. its on the site as 150

If anyone's interested, the next event I'm aware of at Dade-Collier airport will be Nov 7 and is being operated by a different group named Top Gun Run LLC. Their website is topgunrun.com

Thats cool Tampa Palms is right around the corner from me on BBD. I saw one a couple of months ago on a Sat night at the cruise in at Wiregass. I love mine. It is my first vette that I have wanted for many years now. I would love to take it to one of these events sometime just to see what it is fully capable of.

You would be surprised. They 2 or 3 C-5s that showed up held there own!

It was possibly him. I believe his is in the #700's also. I cant begin to tell you how special that car is to him. Im sure his Z16 is his favorite out of the others .

We learned from the event and making the corrections and adjustments for our next event. A big problem we ran into causing us to play catch up was security allowed about a 100 people in at 645am, that's prior to our arrival. We had to scramble to get waivers signed, so this caused delays in following our schedule. We will have more of everything along with a different timing that will keep the racers happy and spectators informed.
The rumor we made a lot of money isn't true and we had planned on holding 3 to 4 events per year. We do this for the love of the sport not the money.

It wasn't that bad, I'm just mad that I didn't prepare better and I wasn't expecting the heat.
The magazine invited us and I'm glad we went, we we=ill be to as many as we can now. Its like our own little Florida Bonneville.

I want to thank you and all of your crew for being so pleasant and caring. you have a great group put together.

Yep, I'll go to as many of these events as I can. I had a great time!!! Just awesome! (cooler weather will help a bunch too!)

Anyone here have an idea of what a stock 04 Z06 should be capable of in 5th gear just before the fuel cutoff at 6500 RPM? I know there is a way to calculate but I don't have the equations right now.
