C5 window stuck up

i suppose im fortunate that the window got stuck up. my windows are down everyday, so they are in constant use. today on way home from work i went to put windows down and the drivers side didnt move. prior to this the window gave no indication of failing. no sound, no clicking, consistant speed. just stopped working. any info would be greatfully appreciated. id like to think was just the switch, but im not holding my breath. thanks

Well, do you hear any clicking when the switch is moved? If not, then perhaps it is the switch. I believe there is also a harness connector going into the door that can something have a bad connection.

You might want want to just try pushing down on the window a bit to see if that unbinds the motor gear. Sometimes they will just stick at the top. From what I understand, there is no stop limit switch on the windows on the C5. So the motor forces the window up to the top till the control module senses that the motor is drawing too much current and then tells it to quit. :shrug01:

Sounds like a silly way to do this, but that's what I have read. Sounds like an excellent way to quickly burn out window regulator motors.

thanks. no clicking noise. what you said is pretty much what i came up with. i may have dodged the bullet on this one. window went down this morning. so possibly switch/electrical connect. we'll see

Just for laughs check the fuse. I no it started to work again but if the fuse is getting weak and has not yet blown completely that would cause your problem

will do. thanks. that would be awesome. it worked today, im just worried it get stucks again and not in the up position.
