Winter weather...

I went to bed around 3:30 am and it was still 38 degrees outside. Min/max thermometer shows that it went down to 31.1 on my front porch. One forecast I'm looking at shows a forecast low of 27 degrees overnight tonight. Another one shows a low of 33 degrees. :shrug01:
Not sure what it got up to today, but it's 55 right now. My min/max thermometers seem to be catching the late afternoon sun directly, so that's probably warming them up a few degrees over what the actual air temperature is.

Temps started pushing down to 33 degrees, so I went outside and dripped the faucets, just in case. And not too much later Connie noticed that the bird feeder outside the bedroom window had been bent over and the feed blocks gone. So apparently Mr. Bear was wondering around outside right around the same time. He got into one of the compost bins about a week ago that I had to fix, so hope he didn't do that again. He's getting to be a nuisance now......

You have no idea how much fun your missing :yesnod: I have tentative reservations at Cypress Harbour in Orlando for next January .Stayed there last year for a month and enjoyed it might even take Nancy this time .It would give us a chance to look around .:thumbsup:

Can't say I blame you. Had I been able to afford a large piece of property further south at the time, I likely would have done the same. But there was just no way I could have found 50 acres down there with a stream on it for anything near being affordable.
But all in all, I would be hard pressed to call the area I live in as any sort of rain forest. Actually, the general weather forecast for this area seems to be "mostly drought, with widely scattered flooding". We have to run irrigation to all of our plants and fruit trees otherwise the lack of rain during prime growing and fruiting season would be a real problem. Needless to say, Florida has a wide range of local environmental variance that can change from year to year. Heck, I can watch weather radars and plainly see that just 20 miles or so to the west or 20 miles to the north, those areas get a LOT more rain than we do here. :shrug01: But you really have to have LIVED here for a few years to see such patterns.

I don't know about you, but shoveling snow when the wind is blowing and the wind chill is in the minus numbers will certainly take the wind out of my sails MUCH quicker than heat and humidity will. Yeah, when I am working outside clearing some brush in the summer months, I might have to change my clothes three or more times before the day is out. But that beats frostbite all to hell in my book.
