I have to agree that they'd rather have my $60.00 than reject the tag. AND, in all honesty, why would they give a hoot whether the tag was restored or not?
The only FIRM thing I found is that the tag must be restored in the colors of that year. In my case, it was dark blue with white letters. IF it would have been restored using a red background with white letters, they would have rejected it.
The other thing is that the number on your YOM tag cannot be in use by someone else, SO, if someone else had a 1960 tag with the same numbers, I would have been SOL too.
