YOM Florida License Plates

Ditto what Shadow said, but NOW.......we need to see a picture of the tag ON the '56. THIS CREW LOVES PICTURES........
Andy :wavey:

Hmmmm. :D

Didn't think about taking a picture. When I get a chance, I will.

I have to agree that they'd rather have my $60.00 than reject the tag. AND, in all honesty, why would they give a hoot whether the tag was restored or not?

The only FIRM thing I found is that the tag must be restored in the colors of that year. In my case, it was dark blue with white letters. IF it would have been restored using a red background with white letters, they would have rejected it.

The other thing is that the number on your YOM tag cannot be in use by someone else, SO, if someone else had a 1960 tag with the same numbers, I would have been SOL too. :D

AND, :D to continue my "rant", there are no forms to be filled out, just a list of things to be contained in the letter you write, along with photocopies of various documents. Must be sent Certified Mail, Return Receipt Requested too.

Here ya go.

My old 56 Chevy hot rod with its' new YOM tag.

The car's not sitting crooked, it's the photographer. :D

Tough to squat on these 63 year old knees.

Ya can't fool me Chuck, I bet you have worn out the driver's side springs on the '56 already! :lmao::lmao:

Is it snowing Andy? :rofl1:
BIG TIME! Started snowing about 10 hours ago, and there's been an additional
6 to 7 inches on top of what we already had. Supposed to get an additional
8 to 15 inches tomorrow. I'm almost out of places to put it. It's reaching the
height where the snow blower won't reach the top. Wish I could save a bunch
of it and have it delivered to Florida on like, July 4th to help cool things down.....

Gotta love those tri-5 Chevys, and the 56 is my all time favorite. Would LOVE
to have a 2 door with post, green and white, with the big old sun visor! Man,
now we're talkin'. Looks like "Lynx-Eye" taillight lenses too. You are one
fortunate "Old Florida Geezer", Chuck! Looks good with the old plate!

It only makes sense that if a correctly restored, and not in use tag "should" be approved. It looks good, is legible. Doesn't make sense no to!
But that ain't what they told me :lmao:

Hell who cares!

At least you have it, it looks good:thumbsup: and I love that '55!:dancer01:

You have also proven the point I've made here before, and that a few here have found out the hard way, about state governement.

They're only interested in your $$$$$;)

Yep. And we also found out that this applies to law enfarcement as well, apparently....

Let's think about this Andy! How bout some school kids that live close? I don't know about you but I'm starting to realize some things are just beyond my capabilities and it's best to bring in the young un's.

My favorite Chevy would be the '58 Impala, 348 CI with trips and a continental kit. I actually found one in Dallas about 7 years ago that was a frame off and absolutely perfect. I offered 40K and he wouldn't budge off 75K and there isn't any way my wife was going to let me pay another nickel.

Hmmm. Could be, Rich. I'm still a svelte 250 lbs. :D

I understand you were in Kissimmee for the NCRS show, but I missed ya. Spent a lot of time with Gary and Susan.

Mine's a 2 door post. It's the CHEAPEST model available that year, a 150.

Got the "blue dot" tail lights too. Gotta have that in a hot rod, and it is a hot rod. :D 355 CI small block with roller cam, aluminum heads, headers. 2.5" Flowmasters, Holley, MSD, and other "go fast" goodies.

It's got a Muncie 4 speed. 3.55 rear. Vintage AC. It's "bing cherry" red with a 2 tone beige interior.

NICE old girl. Been a hot rod since the late 60's. Came from Arizona originally. NO RUST. Original floors, trunk pan, etc.

Runs like a scalded dog. :D My first nice car in high school was a 56 Chevy, so 56's hold a special place for me. :D

I love the 58 Impalas. They were REAL hot for awhile price wise. They seem to have cooled down.

IF you're interested, I have a friend/neighbor with JUST the car you describe, AND it's for sale. He's asking 35K for it. No continental kit, but it's a 348 3x2. He took off the 3x2 carbs and is running a 4 barrel now, but the carbs come with the car. It's blue/blue, and it's NICE. Has vintage AC too.

EMail me and I'll give you his contact information. He lives in Citrus County.

Acutally, I was in Kissimmee working the Mecum auction on Wed and Thurs. I had hoped that we would get over to the NCRS meet on Friday before we made the trip back to Ft Myers. I wanted to hook up with you and Pat and walk the vendor field too. But the friends that were traveling with us needed to get back by Friday afternoon. So, that eliminated the NCRS show for us.

Anyway, I know Dominic and Jackie are coming into town in a couple of weeks. Hopefully, we can all get together then.

Sorry we didn't meet up, Rich.

I thought you and others from your Corvette Club were working the auction. Gary O worked it on Thursday. Told me he drove 13 cars "across the block".

I had a vendors spot with Moran and Buchheister. We sold some stuff. I don't have much left, and the vendors spot is a nice "base camp" when you get tired of walking, etc.

Gary said something about Sebring, and also something about the Barrett Jackson auction in Palm Beach. Don't know the details. Are you going to any of those affairs?
