Your Thoughts On A Stimulus Package?

als2052

Road Trip!
My .02?

$500 is not going to cut it with most...

Elderly & disabled vets should definitely share in any kind of rebate...

Minumum rebate should start at $1,000 per person (legal residents of course and anyone filing income tax)

Take some of the money from excess spending programs out there (start helping ourselves for a change) funding other programs in other countries...

Delete Income tax altogether and devise new taxing plan...

Your .02? :shrug01:

Its just a hand out similar to welfare. Ill send mine back if i get one.

And whats this that I hear they are going to give to people that havent payed taxes and to illegal immigrants?

They are not "illegals" they are "undocumented migrant workers". Ask almost any Democratic and a few Republican politians and that's what you'll get.

Politically Correct Crap. Or PCC as I like to call it.

And yes I heard something about that today on the radio. It seems there is a provision in the bill to include payment to registered legal immigrants. But I ask this, why should a part time "visitor" to this country get the same share of a "tax rebate" as a full time working, taxpaying, citizen of this country.

Our government is in a mess. Most of us will be around for a few more Presidential and Senate and House elections. Let's try to pay attention to whats going on.

This is our country. This is the greatest country in the history of civilzation.

By electing our government officials, we put into power an individual that we feel has the same basic core beliefs that we do. If you don't like what they stand for, then don't vote for them, on either party.

Over the past 50 years our great country has gone from a "Global Economic Leader", to a "wind in the willows" paper tiger.

No longer is there a demand for "Made in America".

Enuf (for now),
Joe B.

Those dummies can't AFFORD a tax rebate. They don't know HOW to stop spending our money, so they will just print up more of the green stuff and hope we all don't notice that the stuff is becoming worthless. It's NOT that prices of stuff is increasing, it's that the value of our money is DECREASING.

So they try smoke and mirrors, with each "representative" hoping they can get their piece of the pie then bail out before the problems get pinned on them.

Run the damned government like a business that cannot create it's own money out of thin air. Where does the money for deficit spending come from? Where do the interest payments on this debt go? If we did that crap with our businesses, we would be arrested for check kiting and fraud. How much money does the government have to be in debt before it is considered bankrupt? THEN what happens?

They've already spent all the money that Social Security has brought in over the decades and now that the piper is coming due they are trying to figure a way out of their own suicidal policies without getting lynched in the process.

Interesting times are upon us.

Stimulus? I think the thought that the government was going to clean up it's fiscal act would be incredibly stimulating.

Stimulus my Ass!!!

 Stimulus my Ass!!!

The call for stimulus packages represents the triumph of political arrogance over common sense. The U.S. is a massive $14 trillion economy. The size of proposed stimulus packages range from $150 to $200 billion, which is about 1 to 2 percent of our GDP. Economy-wide, that's a drop in the bucket likely to have little or no effect.

Congress ought to focus on measures that create greater long-term productive incentives such as reducing corporate taxes, estate taxes and personal income taxes as well as economic deregulation.

 JIM

Screw political correctness. Call it like it is. Rush Limbaugh suggested that the government temporarily suspend the sales tax on gasoline to "help stimulate the economy." If its so important why dont they do something like that? It can be put into effect much sooner that sending people rebates.

End NAFTA, CAFTA and the WTO.
The scam of "Free Trade" is squandering our economic resources and threatening our sovereignty.

Don't vote for any Free Traders in any election for any office on any level.
"Free Trade" must be ended.

And your not far off the mark:thumbsup:

While they are at it, take that United Nations building and put it on a big raft and push it out into the Atlantic. The member nations are all posturing about equality among the countries, when the only way they can do that is to knock the USA down a couple dozen pegs. Why should we be interested in supporting that kind of plan? Especially when WE are paying for the implementation? :shrug01:

And what's with putting those funky blue helmets on OUR military? That's the USA military, which is NOT for hire to the UN.

To start we cannot vote for ANY incumbent under any circumstances. The people must end this careerism in politics. The constant re-electing of these people sets them up for the corruption of the lobbyists and corporate special interests which is in part responsible for the sad state in which the USA finds itself today.

Imagine...our government has to go to the Chi-Comms begging for money,:reddevil:

I never, ever thought we would ever stoop so low as to become their slaves.

Want to "stimulate" the economy?

1) $hitcan the IRS!
Dump the convoluted tax code and reduce the (under any other circumstances illegal) interest and penalties.
"1" tax, a %, whatever...jsut simplify the M%&#@#f&%#*r!

2) Trim the damned government! At ALL levels!
Make proper use of the personnel and equiptment we have and stop wasting money. Again, use the IRS "agents" as real cops! Let them chase terrorist $$, illegal trade, drug $$ etc. If we "fix" the tax code, there won't be as much need anyway:thumbsup:

3) Free trade? :thumbsdown:I believe in an open market, but not to the point where it endangers our own economy and lifestyle.

4) Get real with ourselves!
American workers need to have pride in the quality of thier work. We also need to understand that we can't continue to raise income without a subsequent rise in pricing. Corporate America's simply not going to allow that to happen.

Mexican, Pakistani and workers from other countries work for less. Corporate America knows this. Instead of "outsourcing" the jobs overseas or hiring illegals (undocumented or WTF ever you want to call them today?) to do the jobs, make it illegal to do so or require that corporations pay at least what they would pay an American worker. If it's a "quality" matter, that will show itself rather quickly.

That said, we need to quit holding our own country hostage with Unions and such nonsense. This is a whole different subject but one that could be handled quite easily with a little common sense and understanding on BOTH sides of the fence.

5) Stop all the tax breaks for the multi billion $$ corporations. They have to be somewhere! Instead of giving away the farm to lure a corporation and it's jobs to a particular location, make the playing field even. Let the corporation choose based upon geographic location, shipping costs, access to goods and services, etc, in other words, what makes the company click. Not because we decided to give them 10 acres on the river and waive all fees and taxes! WTF are we thinking?
Sure, the jobs will come, but what will fuel the political economy?

In theory, the added income from the added jobs will; however, there's a lot of "if's" in that theory.

6) Reduce local and state sales taxes and dump any talk of a "luxury tax."

Finally, increasing our national debt to fund a "stimulus package" isn't going to work.

Put more $$ back into the hands of the people and the economy will grow and prosper. Allow them the ability to save thoroughout the year(s) and into thier retirement years.

When people feel comfortable with the economy, they will spend! They will travel, buy new cars, houses, food, go out for dinner...all the things that REALLY stimulate an economy:thumbsup:

My .02

1. If 435 (the "Chosen Ones") type want to impress me with a stimulus package, then they need to reduce my tax debt to them by 33%. That will free over $5000.00 of the $15,000 in taxes I paid last year! Then let me loose on the economy with that 5 grand! :hehehe:

2. As previously mentioned, $hitcan the national gas tax.

3. Cut loose in Alaska, the oil reserves there! Build more refineries. Open up more Gulf Coast oil reserves and platforms. Get going on extracting the oil out of shale rock. Release some of the oil reserves. The point being: reduce independence on oil from the Middle East, increasing our productivity all the while removing or reducing the tax per gallon. Its estimated that a reduction of over $1.50 a gallon would be realized! Then that alone will get people spending and moving again! :yesnod:

Yep, you fellas pretty much got it straight.I think Ron Paul has agreed with ya. He now has 4 delegates.Steve Forbes also had a simular plan and he's not even running this time.

This election shows just how out of tune you guys are with the general population.Oh buy the way i'm with ya.

Yeah, the evidence supports the fact that Washington D.C. doesn't have a clue. They think all problems can be fixed by them creating new laws and funding them by raising our taxes. Well DUH! The more we pay in taxes, the less we can spend on other things. Like the economy. This is across the board. Corporate taxes keep corporations from having the funds to spend on new equipment, expansion, and hire more employees. Individual taxes take away funds that people can spend on commodities and optional merchandise. EVERYONE has to look for cheaper goods, which is where China gets a foot in the door to import cheaper goods, and companies outsource their labor because they don't have to spend as much as they would locally. It all boils down to money in the pocket that is available to be spent to keep your head above water.

When you are spending 30 percent of your income on taxes, you are 30 percent POORER than you would be otherwise.

And Gordon is right about the overly complicated tax system. Look at your tax form these days. Every line item requires ANOTHER form to be completed! How much time, effort, and money is spent every year just trying to figure out the taxes?

Want to simplify the tax code? Make it a REAL flat tax and budget the government spending at the same time. Do a census, figure out how much it will cost to fund a realistically trimmed down government, divide that figure by the number of people determined by the census and send everyone a bill. No progressive taxing, no percentage of income, a REAL FLAT tax, no matter who you are. That bill is the cost of being a citizen of the USA.

So, what is this I hear about illegal aliens getting some of this tax rebate? How does that work?

What is this load of crap. Most of the American taxpayers will pay by April 15th. So it goes like this. You give me your money April 15th and I'll give you some back a month or two later.

O.K. You give me $5000.00 and I'll give you back $1200.00 or less. Would you take this kind of deal from a friend or family member? Would that stimulate you? Only if you were on the you don't pay me anything and I'll send you $1200.00 or less end of the stimulus package does it sound like a good deal. Other than that it's, I'll give you back some of your own money and I want you to spend it.:shrug01:

Aw come on, guys, give these people a break! It worries them sick while they are in their multi-million dollar congressional gym or flying around in their tax payer provided private jet trying to figure out a way to use our money to give back to us in such a way that we will be so appreciative that we will vote for them next election.
