Last Shuttle launch at night

The wife and I are going to once again try to make the shuttle launch, and being the last scheduled launch in the dark, we plan on making the trip from Clearwater. Anyone else thinking about getting up well before the crack of dawn for the 4:39am launch. I guess we'll be leaving Clearwater around 1:45-2:00am.

How many times can you say launch in a post? :lmao:
 
Night launch (1)? I have always wanted to see a night launch (2) up close. Night launces (3) are great to watch on a clear night. What day and time is this launch (4)scheduled for. Hopefully the weather will not interfere with the launch (5). A caravan to the launch (6) viewing site would be cool.

Someone please take over and top that...
 
We'll be there but living in Palm Bay we won't be able to meet you guys unless someone has an idea for breakfast. We usually pull off into one of the public beach areas along A1A (528).

Some places are hard to get into with a Vette so I take the truck. I would reconsider that if we all met someplace.
 
I'll be going to the Ecklers parking lot. Too bad they won't be open. :D I plan on taking the vette.

The wife and I are planning on being there around 3:30am. Was just planning on doing breakfast once we get back home. Could be down for some place good after the launch though. I've got no clue what's in that area. We'll be coming from the west coast (clearwater/st pete).

What the heck am I thinking? 4:30 AM and I'm sure nothing is open. I like your plan of going home and maybe back to bed. :thumbsup: No promises but if we come up (wife is undecided) we'll come over and meet you.
 
I cant bring myself to want to see it., It saddens me..
Im only Lovell by marriage, But its still my family, and its just sad to me

Yeah, it's early. But I did find a waffle house and an iHop on Hwy 50 at I-95. Just a few miles west of Ecklers. Thanks to google maps...
 
I'm working that night/morning. If I wasn't I'd be there for sure. Hopefully the next few happen on my days off. I know there is only 4-5 more.

I am having a 'senior' moment. I completely forgot about CFRC Super Summit Series in the morning. :banghead: I am trying to line up my pit crew and if they can help at such late notice I am going to race in that event.

I definitely won't be able to meet you in the morning. I apologize Shakedown. I may watch the launch from the backyard and then go back to bed for a couple of hours. Enjoy!
 
No problem. Not sure if I'll be taking the vette now anyway. After a bias spring change, I'm getting a Brake Pressure light. She seems to drive fine, but that light is very annoying. I hate brakes... Good luck at the CFRC.
 
Now that it was scrubbed, I will be able to go see it Monday morning. It's my only shot unless it was scrubbed until Thursday.

Shakedown, I'm sorry man. We got up at 4:15 to watch from the backyard and I watched the countdown clock on the computer. At about 5 minutes to go the live feed said it was scrubbed. Now they will try again in the morning.

I went to bed thinking how much you must have been disappointed. Then I overslept and didn't make the race in Orlando. Good news is I will be wide awake for the big game tonight.:thumbsup:
 
I certainly can't say I was surprised. We made it there right at 2.5 hours. Took almost SIX to get back home...we did pull off the road and slept for 45 minutes though since we where on I-95 and going .5 mph. Yeah, you read that right .5. Sorry to hear you missed the race.

Time to go take a nap so I can catch the game tonight myself.
