• Got the Contributing Memberships stuff finally worked out and made up a thread as a sort of "How-To" to help people figure out how to participate. So if you need help figuring it out, here's the thread you need to take a look at -> http://www.corvetteflorida.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3581 Thank you, everyone! Rich Z.

427 engine (part 2) - RHS block

Rich if you have a part number I would be glad to contact an old buddy of mine who works on the parts department of a Chevrolet dealer in Oklahoma and see if he can find anything.

FOUND ONE! I found a post where someone mentioned a part number, and lo and behold there is an AC/DELCO replacement part.

Part #: AC12578953
Mfr #: 12578953

It's not cheap, but at this point beggars can't be choosers....

Got it on order to be drop shipped to Aaron's shop.

NOW, if ONLY this will get my friggin' car FIXED!

Well, now I'm not so sure I really found one....

I got an email from the company I ordered it from, and they say that PROCESSING the order can take from two to NINE days. :ack2: So I looked on another recommended seller from this site -> http://frugalmechanic.com/auto-part...c_google#s=google&m=cpc&c=ac-delco&t=12578953 and placed an order from another company.

Now, I looked at all four of the recommended sellers on that page, and they all look REAL similar to me. I'm sure many of you have run up against the New York camera shops that will put up multiple false fronts for the same scam company, and this looks suspiciously similar. I tried calling on the phone numbers provided to talk to a real person, and got the usual voice menu. Found out that I had 31 previous callers waiting in line ahead of me to talk to a representative. NOT GOOD.....

Anyway, I have two orders for the TAC module at the moment. But I'm not holding my breath expecting to really get either one of them. But I told Aaron about this, and asked him to only accept the first one, and refuse any second shipment that shows up. In the meantime, assuming that neither one will show up, Aaron is checking with a boneyard to see if he can locate that one. If not, I guess my car is going to be down for the count till GM gets them in. I'm pretty sure that will mean there will be NO chance of getting my car done before September. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

if you don't mind using used, try corvette recycling. I have used them for a few items off wrecked C5s.

They don't show one in stock, but I sent them an email inquiry to see if they can help.

Thanks...

A guy on CorvetteForum located in Tennessee says he has one out of a '99 that got crashed, but the unit itself was working. Offered it to me at a decent price since he has been following this saga over on that forum and wants to help out.

Hopefully he can get that to Aaron next week, as I sent him Aaron's shop address for shipping.

I talked to Aaron yesterday and he told me that Jim is coming up late on Wednesday, so they will be starting in on the car on Thursday. They have two PCMs on hand and that TAC module came in last Thursday.

So we'll just have to see what happens. I'm NOT clearing out the spot in my garage quite yet.... :nonod:

did they find anything with the wiring. Hopefully by now they figured out what's cooking the PCM's before they hook another one up!!

Aaron said he went over the wiring and didn't find any "smoking gun". Nothing really looked out of place or damaged. He mentioned that Jim spoke to some of his old GM buddies, some involved with the original design of the C5 PCM and the consensus is that the TAC module has been zapping the PCMs. Well, we'll soon find out, I guess.....

Of course, if they put in a new PCM and the used TAC module and the car STILL eats PCMs, I don't have a clue what is going to happen. I may have no choice but to give up and part the car out. Sooner or later they are going to get fed up with the car.

I don't recall if I mentioned it or not, but Jim is going to switch gears and start doing the tuning using HPtuners instead of the program he has been using. Just in case.....

Sure hope all goes well with the new tune Rich. The Ls Edit program is pretty old so maybe going to HP will cure the problem. Will be checking back on this thread to see how it went.

Jim didn't make it up to Thomasville yesterday, but Aaron said he will be there this evening. They have another car they will be working on in the morning tomorrow, so my car won't get pulled onto the dyno till the afternoon.

THAT (IIDY) would make a GREAT plate for the C5Z.
Iz It Dun Yet could be the title of the book that Rich has been authoring on this forum.
Don't know about anyone else, but I'm hooked by this thread, and hope to see
it successfully ended. The C5Z should be a BEAST when it's all back together.
Rich, you should have it striped and incorporate "iZ it dun yet" into the striping! :yesnod:

Oh yeah, I've been subscribed since day one! Very hooked on the outcome. I think Rich is going to have to charge for joy rides to help recover some of the unexpected expenses though...

I hope that Rich is keeping all of the receipts for this fiasco! THAT would make for some
interesting reading! :yesnod:
