Crappy weather....

Oh yeah. Global Warming. We've seen it first-hand. They've just closed the Appalachicola Bridge on I-10 due to a crash caused by icy conditions.

I'll bet that is causing a heck of a traffic problem. It's not like there are going to be a heck of a lot of alternative routes to take.

We had icicles hanging from the roof line of the house this morning. NEVER seen that here before.

Well, saw some sleet with some snow flakes scattered in a little while ago. The top of the pool enclosure looks iced over. Outside temp according to my thermometer on the front porch is 31.6*. And quite likely it's not going to get any warmer than that today since it is 3pm. I've got to run outside and drip the faucets, hoping they aren't already frozen up. And if the precipitation will stop, got to cover a few more plants before nightfall. The predicted overnight low has changed every time I look at it, but right now they are calling for 25*. The tropicals Connie has between two buildings has remained covered all day long, so hopefully they will be OK. She's trying to raise some pineapple plants.

Man I don't want to go outside today AT ALL......... :{

Just got back from dripping the outside faucets. One is only able to run a couple of drops of water through it, so obviously it is iced up. Hopefully the real slow dip will help. Tree branches are covered with a thin sheet of ice. And the ground is crunchy because there is a thin layer of sleet all over everything. The tarp covering Connie's tropical plants has a bunch of sleet captured on it. The front steps to the porch are covered with sleet, but it wasn't frozen solid to be actually slippery. And it is still coming down. Outside temp is now 31.3*, so it's dropping. I guess when the precipitation stops and if the cloud cover moves out it just might get real DAMNED cold tonight.

The amazing thing is that the precipitation is coming from a southerly direction, so since it's coming off of the Gulf, it should be warmer than it would otherwise be without it. So if not for that, I think this would have been an VERY cold day here.

Hey, want to hear a joke I just heard? Global warming! :lmao:

Temp here at the moment is 49 (feels like 41) and plunging. Think I may skip the small car show tomorrow morning.
:eek::shrug01:

The sleet and rain has passed through, and I'm surprised that the temps seem to be stable at 30 degrees. Must still be a lot of cloud cover, otherwise I would guess temps would drop rapidly into the teens. Looks like that is the case just northwest of Dothan, AL. That stream of moisture coming out of the Gulf is probably saving us from some EXTREMELY cold temps.

I-10 was closed from the Alabama state line to about 30 miles east of Tallahassee. Several overpasses and bridges were closed here in Tallahassee because of ice. I had to detour several miles just to get home last night. They also closed the bridge in Appalachicola and the St. George Island bridge. Parts of Hwy 20 and several bridges along US-98 were closed making travel east or west in the Florida panhandle impossible. The Farmers Almanac had said to expect frozen precipitation in the southeast all the way to the Gulf Coast.
I've been driving around for the last two days with a 1/4 inch ice coating on my truck. it's just now at 30* up from a low of 29*.

Took some video yesterday of the ice pellets and sleet. Probably not real impressive looking to people up north, I guess. But this was an UGLY DAY for Florida, in my opinion.

I'm almost ecstatic! Temps went up to 44 degrees today.
Almost broke out the shorts!
Almost............
Not quite........
Close though.......................!
Andy :wavey:

I think we hit 65 degrees today. Almost feeling like Florida again. Supposed to get up into the mid 70s by early next week. With rain, of course, just to give me something to complain about.

I'm thinking about turning the vettes into big planters since the road has been muddy more than not for quite a while now.

Actually the temps during the last couple of days has been getting up into the 70s. Temperature in my garage was registering just below 85 degrees.

Now THAT's more like it!

But of course, temperatures are taking a nose dive again for the next several days, apparently. But at least should get around 60 degrees or so. No freezing nights in the forecast.

Darn apple trees of ours are already putting out flowers and new leaves, so they THINK it is springtime.
