427 engine (part 2) - RHS block

Connie and I went over to Chris's shop today (Thursday) and found that the car was not there. Come to find out that it was still at the body shop, so we went over there to check it out. The guy there (Toby) said he has been working on the car for 7 to 8 hours. Not only is he taking care of the scratches gotten on the car within the past 11 months, but is tackling EVERY scratch on the car, even those that have been there since before I bought it. I was surprised that Chris would foot the bill for something like this.

But by 2 pm the car still wasn't back in Chris's shop, so we decided to head on back home. I suggested to Chris that my car REALLY needs to be done tomorrow (Friday). I just can't take this monkey on my back any longer. And quite honestly, it's just as wearing on Connie as well.

Rich,

I can see 2 reasons why Chris might foot the bill.

1) As an act of good faith for all the delays and issues and 11 months of down time.
2) Some corners were cut and he feels guilty.

I pray it the former:yesnod:

I assume the car was "ready to go" when he sent it to the body shop for touch ups?

If not, I wouldn't try to push a deadline at this point. Kind of a waste of breath and may cause more problems than it resolves.
Just let it run it's course. Another few days or so won't make any difference at this point in the total scheme of things.

Best of luck getting it back today:thumbsup:

Is it done it's almost 8pm on Friday?? I really hope that you're out tearing up the road.

Well, while you were typing this message, my car was being loaded onto a flatbed truck and hauled away from Chris's shop. My car now resides in Aaron Scott's hands at South Georgia Corvette in Thomasville, GA.

I'm truly sorry Rich but at least now the game is over and I hope it's not long before you're out driving it.

Rich,
I am very sorry that you've gone through all this . I was really hoping for the best for you. I was really hoping that he'd get his stuff together for your car and prove that he learned his lesson. I guess not. While I am still hurt by a lot of things that were said in my thread and I do feel like there are people who owe me an apology, I want to put it out there publicly that I was pulling for you.

Yeah, things can get that way when emotions rule and everyone doesn't just stick to the facts. Fatbum got banned because of just that when we attacked one of my moderators who was simply trying to keep the issue centered on FACTS. If I feel he can stay on the facts, I would be willing to consider allowing him back here.

Yeah, we all get pissed when things like this happen. But the best thing to do is to deal with it as best you can, and try to make sure it doesn't happen again.

If I said anything that you feel warrants an apology, I sincerely DO apologize to you.

No heartburn with that either.

Same here.:yesnod:

What happened yesterday Rich? Must not have been good to have caused you to trailer the car out of there.

Actually, nothing happened. THAT was the problem.....

Enough was enough...lets hope it's smooth sailing from here out.

Rich:
I know Aaron Scott for alot of years, going back to my old ZR1 days, when I was running a 415" LPE ZR1. Back then I was known as LT5 John...Aaron is a great guy and one hell of a mechanic...Good choice...

Sorry, just got your PM a little bit ago. I really don't know what is going on with your car, what Chris has told you, or what you think is going on. The only suggestion I have that seems reasonable is for you to run out to the shop yourself and make your own determination about what is going on.

I would suggest, however, that you try to coordinate with Chris to find out when he will be at the shop.

Just in case some of you missed the video I took when Connie and I went out to South Georgia Corvette along with the Cruisn' Corvettes club.

OK Rich, I hope this doesn't need a third thread for your updates but any idea when the car will be done? I'm wondering if they have to do a complete tear down or are they just going to button it up?

I don't know yet. The tuner is supposed to be coming in later on Wednesday from Orlando, but might not get started on working on the car till Thursday morning. I'm planning on running out there then.

Bear in mind that I don't expect Aaron to just drop everything and immediately start working on my car. He is normally quite busy, and I certainly don't want to keep on bugging him about my problem.

There really is no reason to tear down the engine that I can think of, however unless I get copies of the receipts I have asked Chris for, the transmission and differential will be removed to be inspected to verify I got what I paid for.

This maybe a good idea. Kind of a fresh start perspective.
