C5 427 forged motor?

I'd like to contact Ben LaZano of LBP porting with your OK.
just to see what they have or who they know and recommend.
John

Thank you. But bear in mind that I have already given Bryan at LME the green light to proceed with the build. Of course if I hear that his choice for the source for the heads may be problematical, I can always balk at that part of the plan. But I am assuming he did his homework, knowing I will look over everything with a super critical eye when the new motor gets to Chris's shop. I will be taking LOTS of closeup photos that I can inspect for flaws in the material.

Thanks.

Good enough Rich

Keep the name of Ben & Mike LoZano (LBP) in your Rolidex. They're out of Texas. Or Lozano Brother's Porting same for their web site. Great guy's to know Rich, for sure you'd be impressed with them.
Tell them John with the #33 Chevy Spice GTP car, they'll know for sure, LOL.
Good luck with all

Quite honestly if this second attempt at an engine flubs, I'm done with the idea. Might just get the old LS6 freshened up a bit and put back in the car and accept the fact that this idea of a 427 wasn't meant to be. With three months driving time already flushed down the hopper and possibly 2 more ahead of me, that's quite enough.

So here's the latest.......

LME can build me the new engine at a few dollars less than the Warhawk block and heads were costing.

The new block will be from RHS and the heads from Performance Induction.

Except we decided to go to 10:1 compression instead of 9.5:1, thinking it may give somewhat better low end power that way. It will also give more overall power naturally aspirated that the turbos can amplify when they kick in when the revs build up enough.

Rich, I have followed this thread from day one and know what you have gone through. I, like you, would be very upset to be paying my hard earned money for an engine that was not 100% of what I expected.

This last post of yours sounds like all that heart-ache is being rewarded.
You will have a motor with a little more low end power and that you will not be afraid to start or go for a ride and wonder what is going to brake or go wrong.

It has been and will still be a while before you drive your car but when you do I bet you will have a big smile on your face when you crank that baby up and go for a spin.

Hang in there, the best is yet to come.

Lou

Rich, look at it this way...........all of the time that the C5Z spends in the shop with nothing being done, gives you a LOT of time to save up for a pair of "disposable" rear tires. When you finally DO get that baby back, I just know that you're gonna want to burn off 30 or 40 thousand miles of rubber doing smoke shows..........start saving! :D:D:thumbsup:

Heck, I hate the smell of burning rubber........ So I can't see me purposely burning off the rear tires. But if I want to get somewhere faster than traction wants to move the car along, well, that's an entirely different story.... :hehehe:

:rofl1::rofl1::rofl1::rofl1: Yeah, I KNOW you like to hear the sound of the turbos spooling up almost as much as you like the sound of the turbos STAYING AT SPOOLED UP SPEED! :lmao::lmao:

Pretty cool stuff isn't it Rich.
Have their urethane bushings and Hime joint stablizer on my car. Makes folks like you and I smile for sure.

Rich
no new info??
:crazy03:

No, not really. I'm just waiting for word that the engine is done and being shipped to Chris. I guess my car is off the rack and just setting aside at the shop with the cover over it.

I'm thinking about going over to the shop and just clean up and spit shine the front and rear aluminum cradles. Chris said they are really light weight, so I might even bring them home to work on.

Why not?

I've never understood why, when an engine bay is devoite of a motivating force, people don't take the opportunity to detail the hell out of it?

After all, you really can't do it with the motor in now can you?

Go for it:thumbsup:

Connie and I ran over to Chris's shop on Wednesday and picked up those cradles from my car so I can play with them here back home. Chris also fixed a bad defroster in Connie's truck mirror and the positioning switch for that mirror while we were there. Connie owes him some snickerdoodles (cookies, fellas :toetap05: ) now in payment.

I got word from Bryan at LME just today that the block is due at his place in two weeks. Bummer, but what can you do? So it's looking like I'm going to be going through much of March without my car as well. Not sure of the timeframe after he receives the block to do all the machining done and get the engine ready to ship out to Chris. Bryan told me he has put this engine on top priority once the parts are all in, so that was real nice of him to do that. I'm sure he has much bigger orders to contend with.

Oh, in an earlier email, Bryan told me that they had just received a tall deck RHS block and it was "the nicest block we have seen to date." So maybe everything will work out fine in the long run.

So it's still a waiting game......... but at least I have PARTS of my car back home right now with those cradles here. Guess there is no real hurry getting the cleaning up and polishing of the them done. And maybe I can get the floor of the garage epoxy coated before the car comes back home. Of course, I'm going to have to completely retrain myself how to drive a stick shift again. Not to mention that with all the upgrades, the car will likely feel like a completely different beast to me.

You should check out blingmaster for polishing those cradels...I've been meaning to get some to try on my truck's billet wheels.

Looks like it works miracles to me...From the CF. They had posted a raw piece of aluminum before and after too that was simply amazing. They are even just down in Clearwater.

Good luck.

OK, I'll give it a try. Can always use something new around here to help make things sparkle....

Thanks for the tip.

Well, latest word from Bryan is that it will take LME two weeks after they have received the RHS block to put everything together and have it ready to ship to Chris. So it looks like Chris won't be getting the engine till close to the end of March... :(

Well, I guess I have plenty of time to work on making those cradles all nice and shiny looking........

Man, that is one hell of a waiting game. I'll be staying off the road in April...you'll probably be driving around like a mad man with the new power. :D
