C5 427 forged motor?

Actually they are still celebarating the national championship, Tuscaloosa is just outside of B'ham :dancer01:

Well, I just got off the phone with Southeastern Freight Lines in Birmingham and I couldn't make heads nor tails about what that woman was talking about. The gist of it is, apparently, that since there was snow and ice in Lake Charles, Louisiana on Friday when the driver was there, that delayed the engine sitting on their dock as of Saturday at 11:23am from going out TODAY. Figure that one out....

She said it will ship out tonight to Dothan, but I'm not holding my breath. It bedazzles me that when companies go out of business they probably don't have a clue about why that happened.... :crazy03:

Man what a small world. I'm originally from Lake Charles. He didn't get held up from snow and ice. He was held up from drinking too much.

A guaranteed delivery date dosen't mean $#!T if there are no consequenses.

Two words should have been included in that contract

LIQUIDATED DAMAGES

In simple terms they pay for being late. Otherwise they can tell you whatever excuse they want for being late.

Unfortunately it is generally only the party that paid the shipping that can file a claim. Which was not me. I sent an email to Bryan at LME to let him know what is going on. If they made any sort of guarantee of delivery, he should get his money back from them. Status shows the engine STILL in Birmingham. I expect I'm going to be on the phone to them tomorrow morning the way things are looking....

True however, if you paid shipping costs, that cost should be reimbursed or credited to you:thumbsup:

:lmao: Actually to hell with that kung-fu crap. That's why God made .50 caliber rifles..... :hehehe:

Latest word is that the engine is in Dothan and scheduled to be delivered at Chris's shop later this afternoon. I'm planning on running out there around 2 pm or so to await delivery. I want to get that on video as well. I've got the next two weeks pretty much penciled in to be at the shop every day for the continuation of the install and build. Only fly in the ointment is that I am supposed to be getting my new lift delivered and installed one day next week, which I will need to be here to oversee. They are saying it will only take 4 hours for the install, so hopefully they will get out here early and things will go smoothly.

Lordy, I hope there are no more problems cropping up with this build. I'm going to be on pins and needles the entire time. If I hear Chris mutter an "Oh sh!t" while putting things together, I'll probably just have a heart attack....

Well, that's actually what I am confused about. According to the historical data online about the weather up in Birmingham, there wasn't ANY precipitation at all in the area for several days. So unless the roads were icy from some storm a week ago, then that storm just didn't wash. I just really REALLY hate being lied to. :toetap05:

The engine must have shown up...no word from Rich in over 24hrs. Hope he didn't beat down the drivers and go to jail. :lmao:

Sorry....

The engine showed up yesterday. Got there about 16 minutes after I arrived at the shop. Been over there most of today. My car is back on the lift and they will be resuming the build tomorrow. I'll be out there bright and early (maybe..) Got the guy who erected the garage supposed to call about fixing a few minor problems. Like forgetting to put most of the bolts on one of the rails for one of the rollup doors. If he takes too long, I may have to leave it in Connie's hands while I head on out to Blountstown.

Feels a LOT better knowing that work is going to resume on my car..

Well, things are chugging along, but it seems to be slow going. Got my car back up on the lift at Chris's shop and the engine on the doohicky Chris has so he can work on it. Seems like there are going to be all sorts of minor modifications done along the way with this build. Had to modify both the windage tray that covers the bottom of the crank, and the timing chain cover had to be ground out to fit around the oil pump since the dual timing chain pushed it out a bit from the block. Really, that's all the further we got with it so far. Just seemed that there was too many other things going on, and everything that needed to be done required something else done before THAT could be done. For instance, before my car could be put back on the lift, the frame of a 1978 C3 had to be taken off of there, and then a wheeled frame Chris made up to move my car off of the lift some moons ago got bent up by someone who borrowed it from him. So Chris had to get thicker supports and then weld them in place before he could move my car over to the lift. They were on jack stands in the meantime.

And modifying those parts to go onto the engine wasn't any picnic.

Never did hear from the guy supposed to come over and fix those few things on my garage today. Not sure if I'll hear from him tomorrow or not.

But in any event, planning on going over to Xtreme again tomorrow...

Oh, the catch can (actually a dual catch can) and the throttle body got delivered from Tracy from RevXtreme today, so those parts are over on the install table now. Thanks Tracy!
