C5 427 forged motor?

I haven't heard anything further from Bryan at LME, but he stated on Feb 19th that the block he ordered from RHS would be done in two weeks, which would be today, but I'm not sure when it will actually be delivered to LME.

He then said it will take two weeks for them to do the machining and install all the goodies in the block. I'm hoping they already have the heads and have that part done as much as they can on them, but I don't know their procedures. They may need to have the heads and block as a unit before much can be done to either.

Then there will be shipping time from LME in Texas to Blountstown. Which I'm giving an additional week. So earliest it would be showing up at Chris's would be on March 26th. Then we have the actual install in my car, which I'm figuring on no less than two weeks.

So we're pushing into mid April before it will be on the road....

I sure hope that you put it on "vacation insurance" to get a reduced rate.
Andy

Nope, didn't even think of that. But then again, I never dreamed it would be tied up this long.

Of course, telling my insurance company that I wanted a temporary reduced rate because I was putting the car in the shop to put a 600 horsepower (plus or minus....) 427 engine in it may have back fired on me BIG TIME.

Just think when the car is on the road after break-in time, youll more then likely forget about the time it took to build. Just be looking at the time youll spend making ppl cry and all the detailing to keep that car shiny...cause itll be on the road a lot.

Thanks for the update Rick. I was wondering what the status was. Geeze, a week being "vettless" and I'm feeling the withdrawal. I can only imagine how you must feel. It will take you a short time to get used to driving a Vette again.

Did you stop by there today like you planned?

My radiator arrived today, let's see if he can get it done this weekend...

Sorry, but no, I did not. Chris emailed me this morning saying he had to run out to Dothan and didn't know exactly when he would be back. So Connie and I just went out and ran the errands we had planned on doing after going to his shop.

I've got no plans to run out there again until my new engine shows up. The epoxy stuff to do my garage floor with is supposed to show up here on Wednesday (3/10) so I'm expecting between polishing the cradles and finishing off the garage floor to be pretty busy up till then.

That's funny. He told me he was throwing up and had the sh*ts all day and that's why he wasn't at the shop.

Well, I didn't hear anything from Bryan at LME this week. Last week he told me he expected my block to be ready for delivery to him. But I guess that didn't happen. I sent him an email around mid week, but never got a reply.

I wish I could BUY patience. I need a five gallon bucket full of that stuff right now. :nonod:

Well, I got an email from Bryan at LME today saying that RHS was sending out my block to a warehouse in Ohio, and should be there Friday or Monday. RHS is located in Memphis so I'm assuming that means it was shipped out today or will be shipping out tomorrow.

From there it will be shipped to LME in Texas, so I'm guess it will get to Bryan maybe by Friday, April 2.

Figuring they won't get started on the block until Monday, April 5th, and Bryan said it will take them two weeks to prepare the block, that means it should be ready to ship to Chris on the April 19th.

So with any luck, Chris will get it maybe by April 23rd.

So I'm guessing my car isn't going to be seeing the road till the first week of May. :nonod:

So how long has my car been in the shop? I've lost track of the number of months now....

Wow, that's a confusing line of events. Tennessee to Ohio to Texas...ummm, ok. Man, I wish I could send some of our clients on a wild goose chase like this from time to time.

Well the bright side is that it gives me more time with those aluminum cradles. I think perhaps this has made me a little bit insane. I decided to bring the cradles home and POLISH the damned things. Sheesh.... no one is ever going to see them and here I am making the all nice and pretty. But I guess at least I have SOME of my car to play with in the meantime.... :rofl1:

Just get some mirrors for car show displays. You'd be amazed at how cool it looks. Subtle, but judges would notice. I've seen it done on two C6's and it's sweet. It'll be worth the effort...I think.

I seriously doubt any judges will notice the cradles. Usually when they find the piece of donut I dropped that rolled under the seat, they lose interest in judging my car any further.......... :hehehe:
